If there is no way that that is the case, you should scan your computer for viruses and consult with your ISP. Your computer may have been used by others as an open proxy. —Pilotguy (ptt) 16:22, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- I concur. You would be doing your parents a huge favour if you run something like Trend Micro's Housecall (housecall.trendmicro.com if I recall correctly). This will scan their system for viruses and, I think, spyware as well. However, given that this system does not seem from the outside to be an open proxy, I have given you the benefit of the doubt and lifted the block. If you are still unable to edit, you may be blocked by an autoblock. Frustrating, but this would require another unblock request. Any admin seeing such between now and Christmas should immediately lift the autoblock. --Yamla 16:43, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the unblock and thanks for the suggestions. It's always good to know there are more people out ther who know about TrendMicro's Housecall; it's great anti-virus software. Although, I'm a Mac user, so there actually aren't any viruses in the wild and only a handful of known spyware and malware programs that might affect me. As to the one other computer connected here, it's running XP, so I wouldn't dare let it anywhere near the internet without some mighty powerful firewall between it and the world. :-) Anyway, problem solved itself actually. I had to forcibly restart the cable modem in order to get it to communicate with a different wireless router I was installing. I'll admit, more work that I really wanted to put in just to get two computers working. (My grandparents only have internet access because my mother and I use it whenever we come to visit.) So, long, round-about way to say thanks finished.... Merry Christmas Happy Hanukkah Blessed and Spiritual Solstice and Yuletide and a very festive Festivus!
[edit] Jerry O'Connell image
Regarding your image on Jerry O'Connell. In this case, the image being called by a template, so all you need to do is ad "QuinnMallory.jpg" to the image parameter. Unfortunately, that image is a Fair Use image, and is not allowed 'just to show what the person looks like', per {{promotional}}, so I had to undo it. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! tiZom(2¢) 04:07, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
