SmartSensor by Amigo is an impact avoidance system added to select Amigo power operated vehicles. The technology used is similar to that of a television's remote control. By measuring the distance of an obstacle in front of the Amigo power operated vehicle, the SmartSensor sets the speed of the Amigo to a safe level. Distances are measured from 60 inches to approximately 20 inches slowing the Amigo at a gradual rate. At 20 inches or less the Amigo slows at a much faster rate to exert reduced force on an approaching obstruction. The SmartSensor by Amigo is primarily used in retirement villages and independent living environments.
