Small wheel bicycle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The terms small wheel bicycle and folding bicycle tend to be used interchangeably. While most small wheel bicycles are folders, note that some small wheel bicycles neither fold nor separate, and conversely some bicycles that fold or are separable do not have small wheels.
For example: The original small wheel bicycle, the Moulton, has both fixed frame and separable frame versions. Some conventional diamond frame bicycles have separable frames, sometimes as an after-market conversion.
The term 'small wheel bicycle' is now applied to adult bicycles with wheels of 20 inch (51cm) nominal diameter or less. Note that 20" wheels were developed for BMX bikes, and have since been adopted for some small wheel bikes. BMXs are not normally categorised as 'small wheel bikes'.
