[edit] History

The SM City Marikina is the 31st chain of malls of SM. It is located in Marcos Highway, Marikina City. The mall sat besides the riverbanks of Marikina River. This mall is envisioned to become one of the biggest malls in Metro Manila in terms of land area, which is 60,000 m². The location of the mall is very accessible because major transportation runs in Marcos Highway. It is also near the boundary of provinces and cities such as Quezon City, Pasig and Rizal. The malls have 6 floor levels. The first 2 levels will serve as parking area. It has 8 movie houses on the top floor, SM Department stores, Entertainment Plaza, Cyberzone, SM Appliance Center, SM Hypermarket, SM Foodcourts and areas for their tenants. An ordinary person will notice that the mall has many elevated roads leading to the entrance. It is because of the high elevation of Marcos Highway so the main entrance of the mall is in the 3rd floor.

[edit] The Mall

The Mall features a 6-level Main building (4 upper levels will function as the Mall and 2 lower levels, especially first level, will serve as its carpark) with lower and upper basements. An open-air parking area is located at the back and front of the Mall. Aside from that, there are 2 basement areas on the building, the lower and upper ground floors. Notice that SM City Marikina has many elevated roads around it due to high elevation of Marcos Highway, that's why the Main entrance was located on its 3rd level, which provide access along Marcos Highway. There are also specialize elevated roads (bridges) to connect on it, one is Marcos Highway bridge which all vehicles from Antipolo City going to Quezon City has direct access to the Mall, and also an interchange which all vehicles has provide access in different points in Metro Manila, particularly in NAIA, Makati City, Ortigas Center, Eastwood City and other areas in Metro Manila.
