Slochd Summit
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Slochd Summit is a mountain pass on the A9 road and the Highland Main Line Railway in the Scottish Highlands between Inverness and Aviemore. An old military road also goes through the pass. Both the road and the railway have signs marking the spot. This is the second highest place (1300 feet)on the route from Inverness to Perth - the Pass of Drumochter is higher (1500 feet)and bleaker.
Slochd rhymes with loch, the "d" at the end is silent.
