Slocan

Slocan is the name of a river, lake and valley-region in the West Kootenay region of the Canadian province of British Columbia. The name Slocan is derived from the Sinixt First Nations people's word meaning "to strike or pierce on head" and was derived from their practice of harpooning salmon. The name Slocan may refer to:

  • the Slocan Valley, commonly called simply "the Slocan" or "the Slocan Country", aka "the Silvery Slocan"
  • the Slocan River
  • Slocan Lake
  • Slocan, British Columbia, aka "Slocan City", at the south end of Slocan Lake
  • Slocan Park, British Columbia, an unincorporated community in the Slocan Valley
  • Kaslo-Slocan, a defunct provincial electoral district
  • Slocan, a defunct provincial electoral district
