What does this mean?
"their albums and home videos have achieved - sales status" kabbelen 20:08, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- It was supposed to say "their albums and home videos have achieved platinum sales status.", but was vandalised at some point. I fixed it. --Wildnox(talk) 22:23, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

2008 not 2007
The band is currently on hiatus until 2007
Corey has said he will stay with stone sour til 08 and will let other band members finish there side projects he also stated that he never intended to do much with the band(slipknot) until very late 07 or early 08. source--76.18.0.54 17:32, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Second Rewrite
Over the last few days I've rewritten the article for a second time. I've pretty much finished citing the history, broken it up into sections, cleaned the image section, provided a handful of citations to the same section, removed any statements with cite needed tags for which I could not find a source, and provided a fair use rationale for the image used in the infobox. Any additional help and/or comments would be appreciated. --Wildnox(talk) 00:46, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
GA
Main concern is the prose and references.
- formed in 1995 and currently signed to Roadrunner Records., remove 'and currently'
- Solo years, 1995 should not be wikilinked
- The demo sold well, but had a very small release of only 1000 copies. How can 1000 copies 'sell well'? and how about, was limited to 1000 copies, an explanation of why only 1000 would be good but not req'd.
- The image in the info box fails WP:FUC #1, as it could be replaced by any photograph of the band and should be deleted.
- A few major record labels became interested in the group. At that time, the band contained five members, but Roadrunner Records - At the time the band contained five members attracting the major record labels attention. Roadrunner etc
- Roadrunner Records eventually signed the band,Slipknot dropped, the band then Slipknot after the comma
- In spring of 2000 the album was certified platinum.[1] This was the first time an album released by Roadrunner Records received a platinum certification.[1] can be converted into one sentence
- y,[14], too many commas
- Categories: Semi-protected | Iowa musical groups | People from Iowa, People from Iowa? this is on a band not a person.
- Early history(Before 1995), need a space before the bracket
- December 5, 2006 wikilink full dates
- References come after punctuation with no space, . [12] should be .[12]
- The band also appeared in cartoon form in the adult comic Viz (issue 152, Feb 2006), where the band appear, appear appear
- Vocalist Corey Taylor has stated, has can be removed
- avoid using respective, didn't, wasn't spell it did not
- One sentence paragraphs under 'Image and identities'
- Single and videography should be subsection under discography
- See also comes before references to meet WP:MOS
- Please remove the fansite from external links
- Biggest problem is the references, they aren't formatted correctly to include all the details it should. You can use the {{cite web}} to do this. Basically the the references need to include a publisher (website) date retrived, author etc, an example[1]

- While additive terms like “also”, “in addition”, “additionally”, “moreover”, and “furthermore” may sometimes be useful, overusing them when they aren't necessary can instead detract from the brilliancy of the article. This article has 10 additive terms, a bit too much.
- The new DVD Voliminal: Inside the Nine, wikilink, also remove 'new'
I suggest another peer review. M3tal H3ad 07:54, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for providing a list for me to work with. I'm slowly fixing each problem you listed. --Wildnox(talk) 22:17, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Current Members
Is there a reason its numbered 0-8? That seems just a tad bit odd, but I won't change since I'm not too familiar with this area of style.XXDucky21Xx 23:31, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
- It's a thing with the band. I've considered removing the numbers, since they are a bit cruftish. --Wildnox(talk) 01:17, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Genre
I propose to add "Metalcore" to Gerne list.
Slipknot IS a typical Nu Metal band, so please don't rewrite it to rap metal. Thanks
-please don't put it as heavy metal either-
Who the hell put horror punk as one of the genres? They sure don't sound like it and even their image isn't really horror punk. That's like putting GWAR or Kiss as horror punk just because of their image and we all know that isn't true. I'm going to remove it. --Ilikepie714 21:09, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Slipknot is Nu Metal(mainstream rock) -jarek
Slipknot is banned from the Metal Archives too.
Slipknot has quite a few songs which are rap metal such as spit it out, so dont do denying that they arnt rap metal.
I'm changing the genres section, this is getting petty, it would make most sence to change them to Heavy Metal (overall), Funk Metal (M.K.F.R.) And Nu-Metal (Slipknot and Iowa). Anything more than that is splitting hairs and well, biased. 87.102.12.10 19:18, 24 April 2007 (UTC)Picg.
- Anyone's personal choice is biased, including yours; hence, I just reverted the genres back to the version cited to a reliable source. --Wildnox(talk) 22:47, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
No, he's right they are nu-metal and I'm going to change it.--74.97.35.21 19:51, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Some of the songs off of Vol. 3 sound like they have thrash metal influences (such as on "The Blister Exists"). The band themselves cited Slayer as an influence on the album. However, I'm not going to put it in the genre list because it was just for that 1 album. By the way, "they are banned from the heavy metal page." WTF???? Last time I checked, they weren't a pop band. URFG 23:48, 11 May 2007 (UTC)URFG== Mushroomhead feud? ==
I read over on the Mushroomhead article that there was a lot of argument between the two bands as to Slipknot 'stealing' Mushroomhead's image, having been signed to Roadrunner Records a year after Mushroomhead nearly did so. Surely this should be mentioned? Especially as Mushroomhead's article seems to be slightly biased toward them in the debate; it would at least give Slipknot a chance to defend themselves. 139.184.30.17 18:56, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Mushroomhead has been active since 1995.It is true that Slipknot did steal their gimmick and the mushroomhead article is full of facts. If u try to defend slipknot here ur basically just making the article like a stupid forum post. Only thing should be mentioned is that they have heat with Mushroomhead.
Um, no, they were both pretty local bands when the mask gimmicks were introduced, and in different areas, neither could have stolen the gimmick from the other.
lol I think it's funny, the whole slpiknot / mushroomhead mask ordeal, neither band ripped the other off, they both came out at around the same time, and in totaly different locations, granted Mushroomhead was around first, the difference is marginal. both bands took the mask influence from metal/Avant-Garde groups such as Mr. Bungle and The Residents, in Slipknots case the primary influence in stage appearence was Mr. Bungle, and Mushroomhead the same in their earlier years. but masks have been used in progressive metal many times before the 1990's, it can be traced right back to the 70's with The Residents, and its foolish to think either bands use of them are original in any way. (note, i am a fan of both bands, more so of Mushroomhead but still, im not bashing them, just shedding a little light)
let's see, NOT EMOCORE. WHOEVER CITED IT USED A BAD LINK, AND A SITE THAT DOESN'T EVEN LABEL THEM AS EMO.
Songs played at Concerts
Would an article recording the songs which have been played live be worth compiling? Obviously it would list where and when the songs were played Talk User:Fissionfox 10:28, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Jump Up! (album)
Can someone confirm whether this is a real album? And if so, why it doesn't link from this (the purported band's) article? Just wondering whether to put an album infobox on it or whatever. Bubba hotep 13:16, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
If it's not confirmed, then I wouldn't believe it.
The Pic
I think the current live angled pic should be replaced by one which shows the entire band, dont you think?
- If you have a free image that fits that description, please upload it. Every other image I've seen added to this page failed WP:FUC. --Wildnox(talk) 18:23, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
I have a really good pic but I don't know how to upload it. The one that is up sucks. --74.97.35.21 19:47, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
I agree whichever fool put that terrible picture should go to hell. Y couldn't we just keep the last one and bin the Beunos Aires one.
I'm going to put in a group photo of them. 0matter 20:28, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

NYHC band
Perhaps the article should mention something about the 1980s hardcore punk band Slipknot?

Could someone please fix the second sentence in the article? We all have opinions so please dont force yours on me. ~sHyAn
Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat. Is it really a demo?
Just wondering if the band or one of the band members (or another refutable source) considers or confirms that Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat. was a demo. I think the section on this release should be re-written to say that it was an independent release, not a demo. Demos are generally not printed more than once... Franz T. Speeling 17:40, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
- I changed the wording from "demo" to album. The source even calls it an album. --Wildnox(talk) 18:26, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
Logo
Please stop changing the logo, it's just annoying. The current one is the real Slipknot logo.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Nastypogo (talk • contribs)
I inverted the colors of the version you added(so that it fits the infobox) and I am going to add a Fair use rationale to the page. --Wildnox(talk) 20:06, 6 April 2007 (UTC)- Nevermind that, I'm removing the logo images completely until somebody provides a version that fits the infobox properly and is the correct logo. Both of the images so far only fit one of the two above criteria. --Wildnox(talk) 20:23, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
- Logos for artist pages are supposed to be simple black-and-transparent PNG files, and this is supposed to remain consistent. The logo Image:Slipknot-logo.png fits this criterion. I made it myself and therefore there is no "fair rights" to deal with. = ∫ tc 5th Eye 21:19, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- The thing is: if you created it, it is not an official logo; therefore, including the logo you speak of is tantamount to including fanart dedicated to the band. If you can provide a black and transparent PNG version of the official logo, rather than an image made to look similar to the official version, I would fully support that image. Until then, my position is that neither of the images should be in the infobox. Also, it reads to me like you think I'm the one who originally changed the image and started this discussion; I'd like to make it clear that I do not support the version added my Nastypogo, unless he provides a version that is transparent on the infobox. --Wildnox(talk) 04:09, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- I fail to see how who created an image defines whether it is fan art or not. Almost all logo images on Wikipedia are user-made; most bands don't have readily-available logos for use. Someone has to make them. = ∫ tc 5th Eye 23:26, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- It's much more about whether or not the image is the official logo. The image you created is an image using a typeface that is made to look similar to the typeface used in the official logo, but does not match the actual logo. It wouldn't matter who made the image if it was identical to the logo, which is not the case in this situation. Using the situations of articles for examples means nothing unless those articles a featured, since featured status is the goal of all wikipedia articles. Of the featured articles in the Music category that feature name logos, all are exact matches of the actual logos of their subjects. It's also important to note that many of the featured articles in the Music category do not have an name logo. I would have no issue with your image if it was an exact copy of the logo. --Wildnox(talk) 00:23, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- I made a temporary version at Image:Slipknot.png, that uses a backround to match the wikipedia infoboxes. I can't fix the backround to be transparent; if either of us can fix that the whole arguement is moot. --Wildnox(talk) 00:51, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Slipknot are a metal band
I've read on the wikipedia page about Slipknot, and it has their genre as nu metal, they are a metal band, so please change it Because they always have been metal, just considered nu metal. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 60.224.116.225 (talk) 03:25, 8 April 2007 (UTC).
- The genres listed on the page are not based on what you, myself, or anyone else involved in wikipedia thinks, but rather they are based on what reliable sources have said. So, since we have reliable sources saying they are nu metal, we list them as such. --Wildnox(talk) 04:00, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
I agree with the 1st comment, Slipknot are pure metal and every article I've read cites them as Metal, not Nu-Metal (or whatever crap you have called it). I have the Metal Hammer magazine from December 2006 (barcode 9770955119119) and it states their genre as "metal". Maggotized 12:43, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- I have no problem listing Heavy Metal as a genre, it's already listed. Metal is simply slang for "Metal". --Wildnox(talk) 14:54, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
To be perfectly hones I would go so far as to say that they ar Trash Metal!!
Just a thought. Phild91 19:35, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU METAL. I'm deleting the other genres.
- It's not up for debate. This article is not based upon any wikipedian's opinion. If a reference states it is Nu Metal, then its Nu Metal. If it says its acoustic, its acoustic. --Notmyhandle 07:13, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
I added Death Metal with source. It should be acceptable since its source is as valid if not more so than AMG. --12.182.42.43 01:36, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
DVD
I think we should mention in the article that, although the release date for Voliminal was December 5th 2006, Australians had access to it as early as mid-November. I bought it the day before my brother's birthday (16th November) at a Sanity music store in the Hunter Valley (2 hours north of Sydney). Just thought it would be useful to let people know the release date wasn't always abided by... I was also the first person to buy it from that particular store, if that was the only store selling it I was the first person to EVER buy it! Okay, now I'm getting off the topic. Just thought I should let people know. Maggotized 12:39, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if thats worth mentioning in this article, unless it was really widespread. Maybe mention the early releases in The DVD's article?--Wildnox(talk) 14:59, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Trivia??
there is no Trivia fro SlipKnoT!! i have lots of trivia for this band. Source = "Metal Hammer" {there were over 300 videotapes at 1 hour apiece for the Voliminal DVD, and Shawn Crahan watched every one of them. There are 325 edits} The same magazine also cites that they are influenced by Slayer... further research?? Maggotized 12:47, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- Great find! What is the issue number and author of the article(s) from which you got the info? --Wildnox(talk) 14:52, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- Also does the mag have Slipknot citing any additional influences? --Wildnox(talk) 15:12, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Are Slipknot really splitting up? I did a quick check on Google and their are no other verifiable sources. So.... just wondering if anyone could clear this up 58.170.161.35 13:53, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
Looking at the three exclamation marks alone tells me that this entry is pure nonsense.
- Considering that they aren't really together at the moment... No. Because an album is in the works for 2008. Until then, they still exist under the pretense that they will work together at a later date. --Notmyhandle 08:34, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Heavy metal?
Is heavy metal really relevant since both nu metal and alt. metal are subgenres of metal. DavidJJJ 10:13, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- Well Slipknot has elements that aren't a part of either, but the main reason it's noted is because of the reference. --Notmyhandle 23:26, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
Style
"Slipknot's style is rather extreme."
The whole section is littered with personal points of view (case in point: the above line). Every genre related claim is debatable and therefore needs to be substantiated by citing a reliable source. It would do the page a lot more good though, if this section was completely re-written. Agent.of.brutality 15:38, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- I agree based on that I added Death Metal with a "Reliable source" that is completely and utterly wrong. It's not a problem with viewpoints in this article, but rather a problem with the way Wikipedia works. Eg, every single thing is personal opinion, whether published by a company or not. Slipknot being death metal was the opinion of someone who works for MTV. Plain and simple. --12.182.42.43 01:51, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
