Slipstream is a 2005 science fiction film written by Louis Morneau and Phillip Badger and directed by David van Eyssen. The film stars Sean Astin, Vinnie Jones and Ivana Miličević. It first aired at the London Sci-Fi and Fantasy Film Festival on February 3, 2005. The film concerns the efforts of a socially inept scientist (Sean Astin) and an attractive FBI agent (Ivana Miličević) in the recovery of a time-travel device (called Slipstream) that was stolen by a group of bank robbers led by Vinnie Jones. The film was imagined as part science fiction, part action and part buddy comedy.
[edit] Plot
Stuart Conway (Sean Astin) has developed a hand-held time travel device called 'Slipstream' that allows the user to travel back in time 10 minutes by interfacing with cell sites. He has been primarily using the device to repeatedly try (and fail) picking up a bank clerk he has a crush on. The last time he tries it, though, a group of bank robbers led by Winston Briggs (Vinnie Jones) burst into the bank and demand the money from the vault. FBI agent Sarah Tanner (Ivana Miličević) and her partner happen to be in the bank at the time (tracking Stuart, no less) and open fire on the criminals. In the resulting gun fight, Sarah's partner is killed and Stuart is hit in the chest by a stray bullet. Before he dies, Stuart takes Sarah and himself back in time to before the bank robbery, and Sarah tries (unsuccessfully) once again to foil the heist. Unfortunately, Briggs takes the Slipstream device as a souvenir and Stuart and Sarah realise it's only a matter of time before Briggs and his cronies realise the true potential of the device. The ensuing chase involves a high-speed car chase, a bus hijacking, a highway shoot out and a shoot out and downing of a commercial airliner...
