Slim Moon (b. Matthew Moon on October 15, 1967 in Missoula, Montana, United States) is the founder of the independent music label Kill Rock Stars. He also started its sister label 5 Rue Christine. Slim and his wife Portia Sabin, who now runs KRS, decided to make 5RC dormant, and in 2007 5RC released its final records for the present time.

During the course of his music career, he has had jobs as a musician, a spoken word artist, a promoter, an agent, a manager, a music store owner, and a marketer. Groups and entertainers that he has been associated with include Kurt Cobain (his onetime next-door neighbor), Earth (a band he helped found with onetime roommate Dylan Carlson), Deerhoof, Sleater-Kinney, Elliott Smith, Kathleen Hanna, The Gossip, Witchypoo, The Punks, The Decemberists, and his own band, Slim Moon and What Army.

Moon also was a partner for a time in Shotclock Management, a company started by his wife Portia Sabin in 2004. Shotclock Management currently represents Portland Oregon band The Gossip.

In October of 2006 Moon announced he would be departing from Kill Rock Stars to work as an A&R representative at Nonesuch Records, a Warner Music Group subsidiary. Portia Sabin took over ownership of Kill Rock Stars.

In June of 2007, Moon was laid off from his position at Nonesuch as part of corporate downsizing in Warner Music Group. A few days later, Moon was named senior director of A&R and artistic development at Rykodisc, also owned by WMG.
