Milwaukee Road

The map at Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad suggests a river crossing between Iowa and Wisconsin: there is none, there never has been one. Rather, the map indicates the tracks that sometimes got flooded on either side of the Mississippi; some of this was the old Soo Line. Locally, the line that runs into northern Iowa exits the Mississippi River valley via a very local stream called Bloody Run, reaching its first real town in Monona, Iowa; it's always been a single track line. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ace Telephone (talkcontribs) 06:10, 1 March 2007 (UTC).

List of computer technology code names

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article List of computer technology code names, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. It was probably a snappy list when it started, but now I'm afraid it's become a spam magnet :( Kla'quot 03:49, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

For April 1st

A simple "kiddie" train ride
A simple "kiddie" train ride

Hi, Slambo - what do you think of this suggestion on the portal page for the week of April 1st? I kind of facetiously suggested it in my previous nomination, but the more I think about it... Greetings, --Janke | Talk 10:09, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

I have a shot of thet same choo-choo with several adults riding - and the only kid on the ride is practically invisible. That might be an even better April 1st joke image - what do you think? (The pic needs some cropping first... If you don't like this, please delete it, since it's not very useful in any article, except as a joke. ;-) --Janke | Talk 13:49, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

please stop, i have to do this!!!!!!!!! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Prince Par (talkcontribs) 14:11, March 7, 2007.

(copying my reply here as well)

Regarding the message you left recently on my talk page, I'm assuming you're referring to the edits on Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters. Please review the article's edit history; several other editors believe your recent edits to fall within the bounds of vandalism on Wikipedia. I am willing to assume good faith that you may be working to improve the article, but so far all I see are content removals and I do not see an earnest effort to add to the history of the organization related in that article. If you disagree with the content in the article, the proper place to discuss the issue is that article's talk page. Since my last contact with you was on February 15, I think your current displeasure is misdirected. Slambo (Speak) 20:26, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Prince Par

Thank you, I can assure you that my motives are legite I'm simply revising the article. I'm deleting the article because I work better on a blank canvas.

Redirect needs deleting

Can you please delete the redirect at Talk:Brooklyn City Railroad, which you edited to add a template (I don't understand how this is useful), and move Talk:Brooklyn City Rail Road there? Thank you. --NE2 09:43, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Amtrak

Leave the criticism links on the Amtrak story! They are legitimate and part of a real debate about the topic. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.8.97.18 (talkcontribs) 13:22, March 12, 2007

The wording was very POV. Please continue discussion on Talk:Amtrak. Slambo (Speak) 19:26, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

WPLT quality and importance categories

Hi. I noticed the change you made to the WPLT banner today for an importance category name. Let me know when you've got all of the quality and importance categories renamed and I can update {{TrainsWikiProject}} to point to the new names as well. AdThanksVance. Slambo (Speak) 22:24, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

All changes have been done now.--sonicKAI 15:00, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

This article is maintained by

I see you regularly post this as part of Trains WP job of tagging every possible railway affiliate article. I have a question though, any idea why you tag articles being maintained by one or another project that do not maintain the article you tagged? I have previously posted on the Trains WP page but received no response. Please reply here Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 18:32, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

I must have missed the question on the project page; sorry about that. Combining the subproject banners into {{TrainsWikiProject}} reduces the number of project banners that are displayed on the talk page while still mentioning all of the WikiProject affiliations for the page. Some of the subprojects (such as WP:TFL and WP:NYPT) have implemented quality categories, so keeping the two banners together further reduces the banner footprint by combining the quality ratings for both projects into one line while still inserting the article into the appropriate categories. When we first added the subproject parameters to the template, we followed the wording on {{WPMILHIST}} as an example. I have no strong preference for the specific words that are used for the subprojects as long as the project name and a link to the project page is included. Perhaps the wording for subprojects should be changed to something like "this article is also within the scope of WikiProject foo"? Slambo (Speak) 18:41, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
My question was more to do with why add the tag that states that an article is maintained by such and such WProject when it isn't. It is true that all WProject banners should have "this article is also within the scope of WikiProject bob Bagwell" instead of arbitrarily stating that an article is maintained by a WP that has not contributed to the said articled in any way whatsoever, I say that, as a member of WP Sheffield, all railway related articles are maintained and regularly updated by WP Sheffield, not WP Trains or WP UK Trains. Cropped train ride

I uploaded a cropped version of the train ride alternative image, for your consideration for April 1st. If you don't use it, you may delete it, since it is not in any article. Greetings, --Janke | Talk 21:31, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Template:Esoteric to Template:Intricate

Hi Slambo. I noticed on Wikipedia talk:List of infoboxes#Infobox instructions your advice on using template Esoteric. There is an Update and, rather contradicting your comment, a Note also paragraph. I assume it will interest you. Kind regards. — SomeHuman 22 Mar 2007 02:50 (UTC)

Thanks +

Well, thank you for sorting out that disaster nearly (it is Transport in Scotland, whuch i've corrected). I am still setting up the assessment page on the project. I am also going to say thanks to Tellyaddict for importing the code. I am not sure really if this falls under WikiProject Trains now as it covers a much greater spectrum which we have only scratched the surface. However, it may save with rail-related articles.

Thank you. I am going to continue with the assessment page. Please do therefore add to WP:Trains template. Simply south 19:49, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

I have for now deleted some cats so it just goes to Category:WikiProject Transport in Scotland. Simply south 20:34, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Scrap that, i've readded that. Differently with the cats i have, (I've created 2 of them so far) one does not seems to include a page it is on.Simply south 21:51, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Can Someone Please Put In A Citation For Toronto Derailment

I just added a derailment from a CBC article about the February 7, 2001 Don Valley Derailment. It needs a citation. The article is here http://www.cbc.ca/news/story/2001/02/07/010207train.html Thank you Kenny Sullivan 23:43, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
