[edit] Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button Image:Wikisigbutton.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 15:40, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I can pretend to be someone else just by changing my signiture! This is amazing!

But as you have seen SineBot reveals your name in a few minutes.--Patrick (talk) 15:59, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Um, no, I don't see how this is amazing. You can tell people in real life you are someone else, but fraud is against the law in most jurisdictions. On Wikipedia, impersonating someone with a signature is explicitly disallowed (taken from WP:SIG):

In no circumstance should a signature be used to impersonate another user: in particular, a signature should not be identical to the actual username of another existing user, and even more importantly should not link to someone else's userpage. While not an absolute requirement, it is common practice for a signature to resemble to some degree the username it represents.

So, I strongly recommend you start using a signature that links to your own account. Leebo T/C 16:21, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm not impersonating anyone. I am being myself, silly you! More 17:55, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm telling you that you should not impersonate anyone (as you expressed your interest in doing so above). It's as simple as making your signature link to this page, and not the non-existent user "SlamMe". Leebo T/C 18:17, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
