Talk:Slavophile
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Was Russia's last tsar Nicholas II considered a Slavophile, or was he more of a Westernizer? --Marcus2 18:48, 13 Jun 2004 (UTC)
[edit] I restored
Referenced information regarding their position towards the second largest Slavic group. --Molobo 18:10, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] POV
The current version of the article is biased. References and information regarding other issues Slavophiles were concerned about were deleted. Main reference about what Slavophiles were was deleted also although it was from Brittanica.--Molobo 11:28, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
- The article is absolutely neutral. During a week of revert warring, you failed to provide evidence to the contrary. Remove the tag or I'll have to report you for trolling. --Ghirla -трёп- 13:47, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

- you failed to provide evidence to the contrary.
- Was kind of hard to do as you deleted every comment regarding Slavophile article that I left on your discussion page(like you do mostly when a Polish editor tries to engage you in discussion).
I provided references at the end of every sentence I added. You deleted them as original research which is just amazing considering they were quotes from books on the subject and an Encyclopedia Brittanica.

- I readded the POV check as all information about persecution of Poles by this ideology (and Poles were the one of the largest groups within Russian Empire) is being deleted, despite the fact that it is well sourced. Also Britannica has different formulation then this article about who Slavophiles were.

I reviewed the history of the article, and it appears that referenced information was reverted. I'd appreciate comments on why referenced additions were reverted and POV tag removed. Thank you.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk 00:59, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- As there is no reply, I restored some information and added new ones, all referenced.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk 19:34, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- The problem of your version is not referencing, but two other things. First, it is not completely neutral and plagued with POV (something that becames a rather sad habit, I should say). "rough democracy" and, above all, "narrow-minded Russian aggressive nationalism" are two things I will not tolerate on a page. To top it off, there is some mistakes ("mir" is not - at least not only - the rural world, for instance). Plus, the bit on Polish partition is, as usual I might sadly say, out of place here, while the question of Poles and there relationship to Slavophiles is not, obviously.
- But the most important thing, this article jumps straight to what is actually a particular case. In a broad sense, a Slavophile is an advocate of the uniqueness (and according to some critics, superiority) of Slavic culture compared with others. Not only with Western culture btw. The fact that the word was coined in the 1830s does not mean the phenomenon was inexisting. The word "xenophobia", for instance, was invented in the late 19th century, however the phenomenon extends far beyond it. Finally, I see that some information between the two versions was lost.
- Consequently, I reverted, for purely practical (and within a certain measure, because of POV) purposes, the page back to its original version. This is however, temporary, until the two versions will be merged together, cleaned up and reordered to become one. Unless the ghost of Molobo is walking on this talk page, of course, which is something I would rather avoid. -- Grafikm (AutoGRAF) 21:09, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- I was restoring the referenced and more comprehensive version, removed without any reason at talk. You are certainly correct in pointing out the POVed wording it contained, and there are deeper POV and layout issues. Are you going to attempt to merge those versions? I think that all things considered the referenced POVed version is better than current unreferenced POVed version, but certainly a NPOV merger would be the best solution.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk 22:46, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'd appreciate a reply. Currently we have a choice of two POVed versions, and I think a referenced and more expanded one is better.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk 15:51, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
