[edit] Books on BNE

Looking summarily on the digitized collections of the Biblioteca Nacional EspaƱola, there are several volumes about slavery in Cuba. --Error 22:52, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

In one part of the page it says slavery in Cuba ended in 1886, then in the next section it says 1888. Huh? Semath 02:11, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] End

Spain abolished slavery in Puerto Rico in 1873 and in Cuba only in 1886. Once slavery was abolished in Cuba, legal slavery gradually came to an end in the Caribbean and the rest of the Spanish possessions.[4]

Ehem. After 1886, Spain only had Cuba and Puerto Rico in the Caribbean and I doubt slavery was legal in Spanish Africa, the Philippines, Marianas, Guam, Canaries or the Iberian Peninsula. --84.20.17.84 14:22, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
