[edit] Player comparisons and Original research

It strikes me that, unless you have a source where Takehiko Inoue specifically states that Real Life Player X was the inspiration behind Character Y, or Anime Critic Z says in an evaluation of Slam Dunk that Character A resembles Real Life Player B, then the player comparisons fit Wikipedia's definition of Original research to a T and should therefore be removed from the article. I have added some tags requesting sources for that and some other information. If you cannot provide reliable sources then that information should be removed. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 17:23, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

I removed it because of WP:V and WP:OR. Should not be there without a source. If you can find a source, add it, but in the meantime it should be left out.++aviper2k7++ 19:44, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Using screencaps for character pics

With all respect to the original uploader for providing the screencaps from the game, I'm thinking of replacing them and adding in the ones where missing using screenshots from the anime, if there are no objections. --BrokenSphere 21:55, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

I think that's a good idea, as the article is about the manga series and not the games (minor difference, I know, but pedantry doesn't really hurt in this case). In addition, would you be able to get pictures of characters who do not appear in the anime, such as Sawakita? I think they'd be a good addition to the article too. Bhamv 08:09, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
It looks like the copies of the episodes that I have are not as high quality as I'd like, so I'll take a look at the manga scans that I have; this would work for characters like Sawakita who are manga only. --BrokenSphere 15:32, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
I've got the full set of manga and will be able to scan some. Are there any particular players we're looking for or are we seeking to get mug shots of every possible character that has been listed in the character pages? --Aliene99 01:33, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
I have pics of characters who haven't been written up yet. With a few exceptions, it looks like every named character currently with an entry is accounted for. --BrokenSphere 03:09, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] More original research in Trivia section

Some of the entries in the Trivia section also appear to be original research, and contain weasel words and no sources. Specifically I refer to the entries about team uniforms resembling NBA uniforms, the manga inspiring teens to take up basketball, and the poster in Akagi's room. I feel these should be removed. Bhamv 06:55, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

No objection it seems, so I've made the change. Bhamv 13:14, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Plot section

Recently a section was added to the plot summary, basically summarizing the end of the manga series. Setting aside the fact that the section needs to be rewritten (it doesn't even identify Sannoh by name), I think this is a good time to discuss whether the section should be expanded.

Personally, I'm happy with the brief summary as it is. Wikipedia shouldn't be a replacement for reading the manga or watching the anime series. As a brief introduction to the overall premise and theme of the series - and, I believe, that's all an encyclopedia article should contain - the summary is fine as-is.

What do you guys think? Bhamv 04:40, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Hmm, no responses. I looked at the recent changes and I've come to the conclusion they should be removed entirely. Many of the additions are based on opinion (such as how well Shohoku or Sakuragi play), based on original research (whether Slam Dunk is realistic), and/or disjointed (describing the end of the series plotline but nothing else).
Since no one has voiced any objections, I'm going to unilaterally trim the plot section down to its previous length. Bhamv 12:36, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
The current plot summary is fine as it is. No need to go and put what eventually happens in the Nationals, and it should be kept this way. Enough spoiler info can be gleaned from reading the character bios anyway. --BrokenSphere 17:54, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Slamdunk cover1.jpg

Image:Slamdunk cover1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I added a fair use rationale, though it's my first time with this sort of thing so I don't know if I did it right. Can someone check? Bhamv (talk) 07:37, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Added 2 template FURs for both articles as a CYA. BrokenSphereMsg me 16:48, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Movie Info

I was going to add info about the four movies, but I noticed you had them listed as OVAs, so I thought I should clarify that they were in fact movies before I start.

Seigi Choujin (talk) 21:23, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

You're right, they are movies. The infobox description as OVAs kept slipping my mind even though I knew this. BrokenSphereMsg me 21:59, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
