[edit] Referencing
the history section really needs some references. it generally conforms with other renditions of errol history of that period so it may be correct, but still needs sources. the architecture section is largely based upon the Hogan document cited. Annasweden 15:53, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Slains? old or new?
there are two Slains Castles. Surely the title of this article should reflect the fact that it only deals with the new castle? Matt-thepie 17:47, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] information on slains castle
I visited slains castle this summmer with my boyfriend and both of us were very surprised that there were no signs or safety restrictions there at all. I didn't see anything about the history, in fact not even its name was mentioned in front of the ruin or in any tourist brochure. how come that so many places in scotland, maintained castles or ruins, are so well "described" and frequently mentioned, but slains castle is not? apart from that it's a very dangerous place and at least one seven-year-old kid has already fallen off the cliff, so why are there no safety instructions/ restrictions on the place? I think it's lovely that it's not been made a touristy place, even though still a number of people visit it, but I find it very perculiar.
If any one can give me an answer on that I'd be very happy, it's been puzzling me ever since I was there.
thanks, Kat from germany
Slains castle is now getting converted into housing and as such has been completely fenced off so there is no access to the castle.
