Slam man

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Slam Man is a human-sized synthetic torso shaped punching bag. It contains lights that activate in different sequences so that the boxer could practice combinations of punches to different areas. This has proven to be more effective in training than the classic punching bag since a human shaped target provides a more realistic training expereince and whilst providing technique instruction at the same time.

The Slam Man currently comes in the blue and black or the silver and black varieties. The silver and black is the newest model but to all intents and purposes they are the same. They also come with a pair of boxing gloves and an instructional DVD.

[edit] Fragile foam

Slam Man is constructed from a foam that was advertised as untearable. This may have been the case if the boxer obeyed directions and puched slam man while wearing gloves. Punching Slam Man without gloves lead to tears in the foam material. The nose was vulnerable to tearing and could be removed with an uppercut. For best results, bag gloves are needed to be worn to maintain the Slam man.
