Skyrock is a French radio station, specializing in rap and R&B. With approximately 4.1 million listeners every day, it consistently ranks as the most popular radio station in Paris, and also among 13 to 24 year olds.

Skyrock is France’s largest independent radio station, operating at about 150 different frequencies all over the country.

Skyrock is a child of the Free Radio Movement that toppled state control of radio broadcasting. Following other stations he created, Pierre Bellanger started Skyrock in 1986 as a national radio network. The playlist became rap-oriented in 1995.

In December 2002, the station launched the wildly successful Skyblog (now Skyrock Network), which quickly grew to become the country’s number one social networking site. As of October 2007, the service counts over 14 million blogs, and offers Dutch, English, German, and Spanish language versions.

AXA Private Equity holds a 70% share of Skyrock, and Bellanger, 30%.
