[edit] History
The first class of graduating students was in 1967. In the fall of 1966, construction of Skyline High School had not been completed. Therefore, students were required to attend the other high school in town, Idaho Falls High School. Some students would attend the school in the morning, and some in the afternoon. The first full year of use was the academic year of 1967-68. The first principal of Skyline was Richard Bigelow. The two schools within the city share the football field, Ravsten Stadium. The stadium was named after the first coach of Skyline, who had transferred from the rival school of Idaho Falls.
When Skyline was completed, it was thought of as the "country" school, because the city of Idaho Falls had not grown to fully encompass the area the school was built on. As of 2007, the city of Idaho Falls has a population of around 65,000 people and Skyline is considered to be in a regular part of town.
[edit] Athletics
Skyline's main rival in athletics are the Tigers of Idaho Falls High School. The annual football game, the Emotion Bowl[1], is a historic event in the city. Since both teams share the field, the winner gets to paint the goal posts the color of their team: orange for Idaho Falls, or blue for Skyline. Other teams in the area they play are from Pocatello: Highland[2]and Pocatello[3]. From Blackfoot[4]to Rigby[5]and Madison[6]. Local teams are Bonneville(bees)[7] and Hillcrest(knights)[8].
Skyline has state championships in: [9]
