Dr. Skye Wexler is a fictional medical doctor on the television series ER. She is portrayed by Kari Matchett. Skye is currently the temporary Chief of Emergency Medicine at County General.

The character of Skye Wexler first appears in season 14 of ER in the episode "The Test". Skye was a locum hired by Dr. Kevin Morretti to help alleviate the staff situation. Initially, Skye was only in Chicago for a few months earning some extra money to fund a surfing trip. But following Morretti’s sudden departure, communication in the ER broke down and Skye spoke up that a new chief was needed right away. Much to her surprise, not to mention Dr. Gregory Pratt, Dr. Anspaugh appointed Skye as the temporary head of the ER.
Skye told Anspaugh that she did not want that job as she was not planning on staying in Chicago but Anspaugh pointed out that she was the most qualified member of staff and gave her an ultimatum: all or nothing. Following Skye’s promotion, Pratt considered handing in his notice feeling undervalued but later changed his mind. Skye became involved in "friends with benefits" relationship with surgeon Dr. Lucien Dubenko.
Dubenko became jealous when he witnessed new registrar Dr Brenner flirting with Skye while treating a patient. He had booked a romantic weekend for the pair but Skye was already committed to a diving trip at Lake Michigan. Dubenko offered to join her but she said that he would be bored, leading him to claim that she was merely using him for sex. The two argued and Skye addmited that she was beginning to have feelings for Lucien. She then left for her trip, leaving him with a Barbie doll figurine dressed as a scuba diver which she had brought him as a way of apolgising for not going away with him for the weekend.

Skye appears in the episodes "The Test", "Skye’s The Limit", "Status Quo", "Atonement" and "Truth Will Out". Kari Matchett is currently billed as "special guest star" but it's been suggested Skye could become a permanent character for the fifteenth and final season.
