SKY Latin America

SKY Latin America refers to two closely related pay-TV providers, one based in Mexico, the other in Brazil.

The Mexican company was founded in mid-1996, a joint venture between British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB), News Corporation, Liberty Media and Grupo Televisa. It was launched on December 15, 1996.

At the same time it was being set up in Brazil, where it involved BSkyB, News Corporation, Liberty Media and Organizações Globo. By May 2000, it had launched in Argentina and Colombia. On July 10th, 2002, with 52 thousand subscribers Sky Argentina ceased all operations.
