[edit] Admin
Hi Skully, I've been keeping an eye on your edits over the past few weeks, and I think you should be a admin. Is it alright if I nominated you to be an admin? Davnel03 16:30, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
- I've gone along and nominated you, but before you are listed, you need to accept the nomination and answer three questions at this link. The instructions should be self-explanatory, but further instructions are found here. Good luck!! Davnel03 09:44, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Congratulations (again!)
I'm starting to think we should have some kind of award for F1 FAs! Anyway - that's the hat trick I think, so well done for all your hard work (and for putting up with niggling questions from me!). Cheers. 4u1e 19:19, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

I think reaching the milestone of getting three Formula One FAs promoted deserves some kind of more permanent 'thank you', and the original barnstar seemed like the best one, so here you go:

[edit] Is this a Formula BMW car?
Heya, need a bit of help identifying a car from a load of pictures I'm importing from flickr. I think it's a Formula BMW car, but I'm not too familiar with the series. I know you did some editing on FBMW articles so thought you might be able to confirm it. The picture is at http://www.flickr.com/photos/exfordy/186642151/ Thanks,AlexJ 00:49, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] F1 records succession boxes
Hi Skully. I've noticed the "F1 records" succession boxes you've added recently. I wonder if it would be worth wikilinking the titles to the relevant section within List of Formula One records, e.g. in Fernando Alonso you could have linked "Youngest Grand Prix Race Winner" to List_of_Formula_One_records#Youngest_Winners. What do you think? -- DH85868993 11:25, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks for nominating this image, which I originally uploaded to WikiCommons. Hopefully we can find some more good F1 images to add to the two featured ones!--Diniz 14:43, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, that's a good ides, as the Wikipedia:Featured picture criteria can be quite vague when applied to particular fileds of photography. I'm not sure about my judgement though, as at one stage I really thought this image could be featured. ;) Also, I notice that no-one has uploaded the Bourdais photo, so I'm on it!--Diniz 15:30, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] GAC backlog elimination drive
This form message is being sent to you either due to your membership with WikiProject Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. A new drive has been started requesting that all members review at least one article (or more, if you wish!) within the next two weeks at GAC to help in removing the large backlog. This message is being sent to all members, and even members who have been recently reviewing articles. There are almost 130 members in this project and about 180 articles that currently need to be reviewed. If each member helps to review just one or two articles, the majority of the backlog will be cleared. Since the potential amount of reviewers may significantly increase, please make sure to add :{{GAReview}} underneath the article you are reviewing to ensure that only one person is reviewing each article. Additionally, the GA criteria may have been modified since your last review, so look over the criteria again to help you to determine if a candidate is GA-worthy. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the GAC talk page. --Nehrams2020 00:53, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] San Juan, Puerto Rico
First off, let me say that we appreciate your time in reviewing this article for GA. User 凶 has edited the article to answer your suggestions, and I gave it an all-around read making minor tweaks and fixes. Would you please review it again to see if it meets the GA criteria? Any further suggestions are also appreciated. Thanks again. - Mtmelendez (Talk|UB|Home) 21:27, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Manchester Meetup
Hi, just getting in touch because you expressed an interest in the meetup here. Some people have expressed a view that they would be able to make it were the date moved from Fri 8 June to Sat 9 June. Obviously its now getting pretty close, so I thought a quick poll would be the best the way to find out the better day. If you're still interested, it would be great if you could say whether you can make either or both days here. Thanks, WjBscribe 16:47, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:Invisible Touch (Single).jpg
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Invisible Touch (Single).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:51, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Intheairtonight Video1.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Intheairtonight Video1.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:57, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Edits to Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa
Hi Phill. I noticed your recent edits to Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa. You may or may not be aware, we had a discussion about the extra engine detail recently added to numerous articles by Vitz-RS. As I indicated in the discussion, I'm not fussed whether the extra detail is there or not, but if you feel strongly that it shouldn't be there, you may care to know that Vitz-RS updated quite a few articles. I feel more strongly about the other changes you made (removing the constructor links). Having separate links to both constructor and chassis is the standard format we've been using for quite a while now. If you disagree, perhaps we can discuss it at WP:F1 before you update any more articles? Thanks. DH85868993 11:04, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- In the meantime, I've restored the constructor links (but not the engine detail) in Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa. DH85868993 15:36, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 2007 Malaysian Grand Prix
Hi there, I know its a notable milestone however I don't think that it belongs in notes. I think that the notes section under classification should be restricted to information direct to the race classification, not trivial facts. - T. Moitie [talk] 16:12, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
- I understand what you're saying about the users and the ease of use, but when it's there, to me, it seems completely out of context. I mean, drivers get their "first points" all the time. Why would the reader need to know this in the results section? If they're looking in results they're after the results, not extra information. I always see the notes section as a place to put in information that either helps the reader interpret the results, or important information relating directly to what happened in the race. The very reason the note section is there inside the classification section is for the extra race facts. Not trivial ones. Also the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix article has no Notes section. - Gotta love a good argument :) T. Moitie [talk] 19:58, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] July 2007 GAC backlog elimination drive
A new elimination drive of the backlog at Wikipedia:Good article candidates will take place from the month of July through August 12, 2007. There are currently about 130 articles that need to be reviewed right now. If you are interested in helping with the drive, then please visit Wikipedia:Good article candidates backlog elimination drive and record the articles that you have reviewed. Awards will be given based on the number of reviews completed. [edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Shadow Racing logo.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:Shadow Racing logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:33, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] FL Main page proposal
You either nominated a WP:FLC or closed such a nomination this year. As such, you are the type of editor whose opinion I am soliciting. We now have over 400 featured lists and seem to be promoting in excess of 30 per month of late (41 in August and 42 in September). When Today's featured article (TFA) started (2004-02-22), they only had about 200 featured articles and were barely promoting 20 new ones per month. I think the quality of featured lists is at least as good as the quality of featured articles was when they started appearing on the main page. Thus, I am ready to open debate on a proposal to institute a List of the Day on the main page with nominations starting November 1, 2007, voting starting December 1, 2007 and main page appearances starting January 1, 2008. For brevity, the proposal page does not discuss the details of eventual main page content, but since the work has already been done, you should consider this proposal assuming the eventual main page will resemble either an excerpted list format or an abbreviated text format. The proposal page does not debate whether starting with weekly list main page entries would be better than daily entries. However, I suspect persons in favor of weekly lists are really voicing opinions against lists on the main page since neither TFA nor Picture of the day started as weekly endeavors, to the best of my knowledge. Right now debate seems to be among support for the current selective democratic/consensus based proposal, a selective dictatorial approach like that used at WP:TFA or a non-selective first in line/calendar approach like that used at WP:POTD. See the List of the Day proposal and comment at WP:LOTDP and its talk page.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 19:18, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm inclined to remove the tag because of the lack of explanation, but I'd thought I'd ask you about it first. Thank you for your time. --Falcadore 02:40, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Featured List of the Day Experiment
There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 15:28, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:41, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Free licence Tom Pryce pic
I've managed to secure a freely licenced pic of Tom Pryce racing at Watkins Glen USA GP in 1975 (Image:Tom_pryce_watglen_75.jpg). It's probably best for you to decide how to integrate it into the article. AlexJ (talk) 21:59, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Red Dwarf peer review
Hi there. The Red Dwarf article has just been requested for a Peer Review. As a member of WikiProject Red Dwarf I was wondering if you would like to join in on the discussions. The article has gone through some major changes in the last few months, and it would be fantastic if a prominent editor/contributor like yourself, could head over and give some sound opinion and ideas on improvements for the page. If you are interested in joining the peer review discussion with other prominent users/contributors, much like yourself, please follow the link. Thank you very much for your help and your continued effort to improve Wikipedia and its quality! Wikipedia:Peer review/Red Dwarf --Nreive (talk) 11:52, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Tom Pryce Silverstone 1975.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Tom Pryce Silverstone 1975.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 01:58, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Max Mosley
Hi, as someone who has contributed to an F1 article that has achieved FA status, I would be grateful for your comments on the Max Mosley article which I have nominated for FA. I know you haven’t contributed to it before which is why I think you would have a impartial view point. At the moment no one from the F1 portal has commented (possibly because the man himself isn't that popular!) Many thanks Tommy turrell (talk) 19:58, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi thank you for your time, I know it's a long read! Glad you thought it was suitable for FA, have a good easter. Tommy turrell (talk) 19:00, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 1995 Japanese Grand Prix
Hi Phill. As someone who has got a motor racing article to FA status, I was wondering whether you could peer review the 1995 Japanese Grand Prix article for me. Could you possibly make comments on the article at the PR discussion here. Thanks, D.M.N. (talk) 17:14, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Brabham
I'l do my best, but I'm not actually sure I've heard all of them spoken elsewhere either, so you may just be getting the benefit of my misunderstandings!
- Tauranac - Tor-ran-ack
- Joachim Luhti - Yo-ah-kim Loo-tee
- l'Automobile - Lor-to-mo-beel (Surely that's easier than Federation (Fed-der-ra-see-on) and possibly than Internationale (In-ter-nass-ee-on-aal). Anyway, camp up your French accent!
- Rapier (where's that!) - Ray-pee-err
- perilously - peh-ri-luss-lee
- Andrea de Adamich - An-drey-err duh Ah-dam-mitch
Let me know if that sounds weird! 4u1e (talk) 13:48, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- I noticed your question on 4u1e's talk page. Here's how you pronounce perilous, you need to add -ly at the end. Royalbroil 13:52, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- No trouble. Conversely, I'm a lot more comfortable with French than Italian (I lived in Paris for a year). It's only a very rough rule of thumb, but you'll often find that where in Italian you pronounce all of the letters in a word, in French you often don't pronounce the last letter. (so, 'Paris' is pronounced 'Pari'). There's tonnes of exceptions, though. 4u1e (talk) 22:55, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Graeme Smith
I have left notes about improvements you suggested at Talk:Graeme Smith
Thanks for the review by the way. 02blythed (talk) 13:03, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for passing the article. Unfortunately I am unable to review any articles due to things happening in real life. I am unsure how long it will last for but when real life is sorted I will definately try and review articles for GA. 02blythed (talk) 13:01, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Request to move article Minardi Piquet Sports incomplete
You recently filed a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves to move the page Minardi Piquet Sports to a different title - however your proposal is either incomplete or has been contested as being controversial. As a result, it has been moved to the incomplete and contested proposals section. Requests that remain incomplete after five days will be removed.
Please make sure you have completed all three of the following:
- Added {{move|NewName}} at the top of the talk page of the page you want moved, replacing "NewName" with the new name for the article. This creates the required template for you there.
- Added {{subst:RMtalk|NewName|reason for move}} to the bottom of the talk page of the page you want to be moved, to automatically create a discussion section there.
- Added {{subst:RMlink|PageName|NewName|reason for move}} to the top of today's section here.
If you need any further guidance, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Requested moves or contact me on my talk page. - JPG-GR (talk) 20:50, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
