Skorm and Avo are deities in the Lionhead Studios videogame series Fable. Avo, the game's good deity, and Skorm, the game's evil deity, are intended to exemplify the theme of dualism throughout the game of good and evil.
[edit] The Existence of Skorm and Avo
Although all of the characters in Fable seem to firmly believe in the existence of Skorm and Avo, the Oracle states that Skorm and Avo are only imaginary beings created by two traders who sought to make money by scamming passers-by and other traders. When the user attacks one of the four clergies at either temple or brandishes a weapon in the Temple of Avo, however, a voice resonates that may in fact be Avo or Skorm.
[edit] Places of Worship
The Chapel of Skorm
Followers of Skorm worship in the Chapel of Skorm, located down a trail near Darkwood Camp. During the game, the user can bring inhabitants of Albion into the Chapel by using the "Follow" command and sacrifice them to Skorm at the altar to receive various rewards, such as Skorm's Bow, youth, the title of Necromancer, or a number of Evil points, depending on who is sacrificed and when. During the "Trader Escort" Quest, the user can choose to complete the Quest with both traders or sacrifice one to The Chapel of Skorm. However, if you allow the wounded trader in the beginning of the quest to follow you, you will have three followers and you will be able to sacrifice two traders at the Chapel of Skorm without failing the quest (it might be safer to sacrifice the wounded trader first if you make any sacrifices because if you only have the wounded trader following you he could turn into a balvering and will result in a quest failure). If both traders are sacrificed, however, it results in quest failure(unless you have three traders following you).During the quest you can also bring other followers such as villagers or mercanaries before you start the quest to sacrifice at the Chapel of Skorm. Other than sacrificing people, there is little to do in The Chapel of Skorm, but there is a chest behind the Chapel containing the Assassin shirt. The user can also attack the two clergies at the Chapel to receive Good points (6 points each).
The Temple of Avo
Followers of Avo worship in the Temple of Avo, located in Witchwood. To receive gifts at the Temple of Avo, one must donate money to the fountain in the center of the Temple. Similarly to the Chapel of Skorm, the reward that is received varies on the time of day and the size of the donation. The rewards you can receive are The Sentinus, a powerful mace with silver and piercing augmentations, youth, the title Paladin, or Good points. Other than donating gold, there is a bodyguard for hire, a chest containing a Resurrection Phial, and the Sword in the Stone(The Harbinger),which requires a maxed out character in strength to remove.. Killing the clergy at The Temple results in Evil points (14 points each).
