Skoger

Skoger is a village located on the border between Buskerud and Vestfold counties, Norway. Of its population (2005) of 1,082, 654 are registered as residents of Drammen whereas 428 live in Sande, Vestfold.

The surrounding area used to be a municipality, formed January 1, 1838 as Skoger formannskapsdistrikt. Skoger was enlarged when Strømsgodset with its 731 inhabitants, as well as an uninhabited part of Eiker, were incorporated into the municipality January 1, 1844. The enlarged Skoger municipality had a population of 2,568.

On 1 January 1870 a district of Skoger with its 1 363 inhabitants was moved to Drammen.

On 1 January 1964 the rest of Skoger, at that time with 14 672 inhabitants, was incorporated into Drammen. This entailed a border adjustment as Skoger became a part of Buskerud county.
