SkjárEinn (Icelandic meaning "Screen One") is an Icelandic television channel owned by Iceland Telecom. Skjár einn broadcasts mostly American sitcoms, drama and reality shows, together with a number of home-grown productions such as the Icelandic version of The Bachelor. It is distributed by analogue over-the-air broadcast signal and also digitally via Síminn's ADSL cable network. It began broadcasting in 1998 and to begin with showed mostly reruns of American and British programmes from the 1970s and 1980s. Skjár einn is free to anyone in Iceland and its revenue comes from TV commercials.
