[edit] History

According to what Yoshiki (drummer and pianist of X Japan) said during his interview with Fool's Mate magazine,[1], the origin of the band dates back to around 2002, when Yoshiki and Gackt (formerly in Malice Mizer) agreed to jointly produce some music. Around 2006, they became serious about the plan, and began to find band members. They first recruited Miyavi (formerly of Dué le Quartz), and then Sugizo (formerly of Luna Sea). The plan was publicly announced in August 2006, when Otakon published an interview with Yoshiki in which he said he would start a band with Gackt.[2] In December of the same year, it was reported that Sugizo might be joining the group as the third member.[3] On May 25, 2007, at the JRock Revolution festival in Los Angeles, Skin was announced. Yoshiki confirmed that the group will release an album and that rough recordings of several songs were made in March 2007.[4] The band gave its debut performance on June 29, 2007 at the Anime Expo in Long Beach, California, with Ju-ken, bassist of Gackt's support band GacktJob on bass.[5][6] As of early 2008, neither an album release date nor a full-time bass player have been announced.
