I don't think this is correct. The evidence of the ground surgests it was the Lancashire and Yorkshire railway that built this branch, not the East Lancs.

For example, the stone marker pillars near the Ormskirk end say LYR.

Yup your correct. It was the Liverpool Ormskirk that was built by the ELR.--Son of Paddy's Ego 15:07, 8 October 2005 (UTC)
