Skerryvore, meaning 'great skerry' is a reef with a lighthouse in Scotland.

Skerry (and the [pl] Skerries) is used as a fictional term in Neal Stephenson's novel Cryptonomicon. It describes a small mammal with a long tail, probably similar to a rat.

In the DC Comics series The Sandman (Vertigo), written by Neil Gaiman, Gaiman uses "skerries" to refer to isolated parts of The Dreaming (comics) which are created and sustained by the serial dreams of individuals.
