[edit] Location
Note that (as is rather common in Shetland) there's more than one Skaw. The Unst one is at (grid reference HP657165), whereas its larger counterpart on Whalsay is at (grid reference HU595665). -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 19:28, July 20, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Coastal Defence U-Boat
What on earth is it? Surely the defences were against U boats so maybe the naming is wrong??--JBellis 18:49, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
- The Coastal Defence (CD) radar was initially designed for use by the Army for Gun and Light Laying (GL). These then became the RAF Chain Home Low (CHL) radar. Some of the CD sets were modified to a shorter wavelength to make them more suitable for finding U-Boats near the coast. These were designated Coastal Defence U Boats (CDU).
