[edit] Coastal Defence U-Boat

What on earth is it? Surely the defences were against U boats so maybe the naming is wrong??--JBellis 18:49, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

The Coastal Defence (CD) radar was initially designed for use by the Army for Gun and Light Laying (GL). These then became the RAF Chain Home Low (CHL) radar. Some of the CD sets were modified to a shorter wavelength to make them more suitable for finding U-Boats near the coast. These were designated Coastal Defence U Boats (CDU).
