Skarnsundet is a sound in Trondheimsfjorden connecting the inner section, Beitstadfjorden, with the outer section. Skarnsundet is about halv a kilometer wide with Inderøy to the east and Mosvik to the west.

Prior to December 19, 1991 the sound was crossed by a car ferry, operated by Innherredsferja, at which point Skarnsund Bridge (1010 m long) was opened. On the Inderøy side is the village of Vangshylla and on the Mosvik side is the village of Venneshamn. Skarnsundet is noted site for both sports fishing and underwater diving.
