Skan

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Lakota tradition, Skan is the Motion of the universe, the lifeblood pulse of the body and the solar winds. The Great Spirit, Wakan Tanka, reflected upon himself and created the four Superior Spirits, Wi (the first to be created, bringing light to the world), Skan, Maka (Mother Earth) and Inyan (the solid support of the Earth or the rock associated with the natural forces of the Earth).

Skan set the stars and planets moving on their paths and released the winds to travel across the universe. Skan enters the body with the spirit and sets in motion the breath and blood of new life. All that is created is in motion. The seas, the clouds, the trees and all that live within and upon the Earth move in a dance to the radiance of the One who created all things, Wakan Tanka.

When present during a Lakota Sweat Lodge ceremony, Skan represents the ability to use your innner power of focused thought to attract what you want in your life. Assuredly, the Creator within you will move, through clear and directed thought, to attain the outcome you desire. It's all in your thought process and belief system. Dispel those thoughts that limit you and hold you back. Concentrate on what you wish to create in your life, and allow that which is for your highest good. Treat these blessings you desire as if they are already being directed toward you, and they will appear. Try to force them to happen, and you will be waiting long.
