Ska Parade

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ska Parade, also known as SP Radio One, is a radio show whose goal is to promote up-and-coming ska, as well as new music bands. The show was created by Tazy Phyllipz and Albino Brown. It broadcasts in southern California.

The show is perhaps best notable for being ground zero for the Orange County ska revolution of the mid-1990s.

The Ska Parade's first compilation, Step On It: The Best of The Ska Parade Radio Show, helped catalyze the career of Sublime and helped launch third-wave ska onto the airwaves of many commercial radio stations (ie: KROQ, KCXX, 91X, etc). The Ska Parade's second compilation, Runnin' Naked Thru the Cornfield, featured exclusive tracks by Reel Big Fish, The Specials, Save Ferris, and The Aquabats (when Travis Barker of Blink 182 fame was their drummer).

The show is still on the air in an updated form as "SP Radio One".
