[edit] Aging hippies

Why did I delete Surface Hippy? Clearly, even with a lower case 'h', the title was ridiculously unencyclopedic - an obviously slang neologism. I moved it to hip resurfacing but I still deleted it. Why? OK, user:71.231.102.185 had tagged it {{db-spam}}. Now anonymous users such as this are distinctly a lower form of life on Wikipedia (even though this one has done a lot of sound edits) and one automatically suspects their motives. I probably saw your "commercial" user name and the spam allegation and assumed that you were a clinic selling yourselves.

On reflection, I agree that we need a hip resurfacing article and yours is a good starting point but we need to tread carefully. You own:

I accept that you are not in the business of selling any hip resurfacing services but there may still be accusations that you are promoting your own websites.

I have hacked your article about a bit and re-instated it. I recommend that by all means improve the article yourself and create more incoming links too it, but wait at least a month before you add any more links to your websites. For similar reasons, I have not acknowledged you as the original author, though Wiki etiquette demands that I should. Again, I will add that later once the article has "bedded in".

I agree that the phrase "surface hippy" is particularly apt since so many who were hippies in the 60s and 70s are now in need of hip surgery. But it is something that should only appear as an aside in the article. -- RHaworth 08:36, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
