[edit] Tasteless and bizarre costume

Is it really POV to say that the Sixth Doctor's costume was "tasteless and bizarre"? I mean, that was more or less the producer's brief to the costume designer, wasn't it? Despite the character's assertions that the coat was the height of fashion on whatever-planet-it-was, I doubt that any human being would say it wasn't tasteless or bizarre. Some fans of the Sixth Doctor might have developed a fondness for the costume, but I'm sure that came much more from fondness for the character and/or programme than for an aesthetic judgement on the costume. —Josiah Rowe 00:01, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

It is if asserted straight like that, because it will read like the article is passing judgment on the costume rather than reporting JNT's intent. I've checked my reference books and will replace it with an attributable quote. --khaosworks (talkcontribs) 00:11, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] The Two Bakers

Does anyone know if Colin Baker is related to Tom Baker? Ether way, it should be mentioned in some article somewhere, as it is a bit confusing to have two actors with the same surname play the same character.

They're not related. I'm not sure whether the note should be on this page or on Colin Baker, though, since this page is about the character, not the actor who played him. Other opinions? —Josiah Rowe 07:23, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
I don't think a note is necessary, myself - I don't think there's ever been any significant confusion to any degree. But if there's one, it should probably go on Colin's page. --khaosworks (talkcontribs) 07:44, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
Maybe I'm the only one, but I spent quite a while searching the Net for something to tell me one way or the other, but I agree that it would be better mentioned on the actor's page.
I've added a note to Colin Baker. —Josiah Rowe 18:14, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
Apparently it's a common misconception amongst at least some American semi-fans; the topic comes up often enough to warrant a mention somewhere. And yes, the actor's page is the most sensible place for it. It's apparently due in part to some PBS stations skipping straight from Tom to Colin with no explanation. One plus one equals six.--Aderack 11:04, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Personality

"Heart of gold?" I think several of the Doctor articles have flowery language but I'm not sure how to put things and I haven't the time myself. Also, there is some valid material in previous revisions, such as Jan 19, which could be put back in in some fashion. --Howdybob 10:38, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Anyone know enough about the development of the 6th doctor's character to put something in about it? It always struck me as such a wide departure from the last 5 doctors to have some rationale behind it. I noticed in the earlier versions of this page, there was some reference to JNT having a hand in the character development --if so, I'd love to know more about it, and to see it brought back. [edit] The other actor

If the sixth Doctor was oficially portrayed by a second actor (as the article currently states) it makes sense to mention who it was besides Baker, but I found no mention. Help anyone? Luis Dantas (talk) 13:00, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

The other actor is Sylvester McCoy, who portrayed both the role of the sixth Doctor just prior to regeneration and obviously as himself as the Seventh Doctor. This was due to Colin's apparent unhappiness at being let go, and being poorly treated, so Sylv had to play both roles in his opening episode.
