Coordinates: Siwan is the district headquarters of the Siwan district in the Indian state of Bihar.
The Siwan is the birth place of india Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first president of republic of India, He was born in Ziradei Village.
Siwan is one of large district in Bihar, actually it was earlier under Chapra(a district from where well known political leader of RJD Lalu Parsad Yadav and Rabri Devi belongs)but after some time it has been a separate district.

As of 2001 India census,[2] Siwan had a population of 108,172. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Siwan has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 69%, and female literacy is 55%. In Siwan, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.
