Siva Yoga
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Siva Yoga is an unorthodox yoga of Hinduism. It is geared towards worship of the god Shiva, and is primarily based on a marriage of logic and faith.
[edit] Beliefs
Followers of the Siva Yoga believe that faith and logic cannot coexist on any given subject. So they take logic as far as they can, and when they come to the end of what science or research can show them, they take the answers provided by religion on faith.
They believe that the god Shiva, who is said to destroy the world and remake it, does not just destroy things, but false states of mind. They believe that they are to destroy misconceptions and falsehoods discovering the truth in all things.
Siva yogis also believe that their body is a temple for their soul, and must be kept in peak condition. Many do this with rigorous exercise (in the form of martial arts) and a healthy diet.
[edit] Common Practices
As far as common practices go, most followers of the Siva Yoga are indistinguishable from your common Hindu. Most do not make their beliefs known, except to close family and other Siva Yogis.
