[edit] Early years
In 1864 the foundation of the HSBC building was being developed.[1] Jackson may have immigrated from the United Kingdom to Hong Kong as early as 1865 to take part in the bank opening.
[edit] Achievements
From 1870 to 1902 Jackson was the chief manager of HSBC.[2] Under his business leadership the bank became the premiere bank in Asia. Though some references have indicated his tenure at HSBC actually began in 1876 with a 26 year tenure. "Bart" is an abbreviation for Baronet, an honour conferred upon him on August 4, 1902.
[edit] Legacy
A statue of Jackson was raised in Statue Square in honor of his contribution to the financial industry.[1]
