Sir John Hobart, 2nd Baronet

Sir John Hobart, 2nd Baronet (19 April 1593 – 20 April 1647) was an English politician.

Born in Norwich in Norfolk, he was the son of Sir Henry Hobart, 1st Baronet and Dorothy Bell. Knighted in Whitehall in London on 1 November 1611, he succeeded to his father's baronetcy on 29 December 1625. From 1621 to 1622, Hobart was Member of Parliament for Cambridge, from 1624 to 1625 for Lostwithiel, in 1626 for Brackley and from 1645 to 1647 for Norwich. He died, aged 54, in Norwich after a long illness and was buried in Blickling in Norfolk on 29 April 1647.

Hobart married firstly Lady Philippa Sydney, daughter of the 1st Earl of Leicester. They had one daughter:

He married secondly Lady Frances Egerton, daughter of the 1st Earl of Bridgwater in February 1621, and had another daughter:

• Philippa Hobart (1635–1654), married Sir John Hobart, 3rd Baronet
