Sir George Staunton, 1st Baronet

Sir George Leonard Staunton, 1st Baronet (10 April 1737 – 14 January 1801) was a botanist and employee of the East India Company in the late eighteenth century. He participated in the Macartney mission to China in 1793, records of which he published as An Authentic Account of an Embassy from the King of Great Britain to the Emperor of China, 1797.

He was the first Westerner to observe the use of orange flavouring in tea (in what was to became green tea) in China in 1793.
