Sipson is a place in the London Borough of Hillingdon situated near the northern perimeter of London Heathrow Airport and 14.3 miles (23 km) west of Charing Cross. Its name came from the Anglo-Saxon Sibbwines tūn = "Sibbwine's farmstead".
The majority of the village is now slated to disappear because of BAA's plan to create a third runway[1] at Heathrow Airport. Despite delays to the plan due to pressure from NOTRAG (the local No Third Runway Action Group) and concerns over environmental damage, the expansion of Heathrow has now been formally agreed and it is likely that the village will now be demolished.[2]
Current residents include Simon Lloyd Cuff, chapel warden at Keble College, Oxford.
