Sipra

Sipra' or Sapra is a Punjabi tribe in Punjab region of Pakistan and India. Sipra is a surname found among both Hindus as well as Muslims.

There are two other variations of the Sipra surname , Sapra and Sapru . The Sapra or (Sipra) are a Punjabi Khatri clan originally belonging to areas of west Punjab which are now part of Pakistan . The Hindu Sapra(or sipra) moved to India at the time of the partitition of India. Some Khatris were converted to Islam over the centuries after the advent of Islam into the subcontinent .

In Pakistan the Muslim Sipra or Sapra are found among Punjabi people.

The Sapru clan on the other hand are of Kashmiri Pundit origin . The Hindu Kashmiri Pundit Sapru are today found in India . The Pakistan Punjab has a vibrant Kashmiri community also among Punjabis . Nawaz Sharif is a prominent Punjabi from Kashmiri community
