[edit] Snowy Areas

I wrote that snowy areas existed on account of a screenshot found here: [1]. You can see the player walking in the snow and I doubt it is sand due to its white appearence. Unless there is another objection I'll add the information back to the article.--Myuu 07:36, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

That's sand. The color of the sand IS light, but it is not snow. When's the last time you made brown footprints in the snow... how about: when's the last time you saw sand-colored snow? By the patterns you see in the sand, it is obvious that it is sand.Coltonblue 16:59, 27 May 2006 (UTC)Coltonblue
Colton, be nice. On the other hand, after reviewing the screenshot, I must agree. Snow would result in black, grey, or blue footprints. -- WikidSmaht (talk) 21:03, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
... I'll try. -_- Anyways. If you view the screenshot close up, it's even more obvious that it is sand. I suppose it is understandable that someone could mistake it for snow in a blurred and smaller version. Click here.Coltonblue 23:22, 27 May 2006 (UTC)Colton
I see it now, my apologies. The screenshot I was looking at was bad quality and appeared white.--Myuu 16:31, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Well, on Serebii.net there is a pic that looks as if it has snow falling. Here is a pic that is snowy. It's the one to the right. I don't know if this is a usable reference. --Bevinsky 16:50, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pidgey fad

A really stupid Pidgey fad hit GameFAQs, and it's spilling over onto this page. I suspect that someone will yell at me for breaking the Three-revert rule if it happens again, despite this being clear vandalism. I don't want this page protected (maybe a short-term IP protection?) --HeroicJay 05:59, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

Just to back HJay up, this is vandalism, not a content dispute. I'm loath to semi-protect this, though, as we are getting productive anon edits. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 09:50, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
It kinda figures that they stopped shortly before I posted this... not that I should complain, though. --HeroicJay 18:44, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
{sigh} --HeroicJay 01:13, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Some original research... by me!

I'd think it likely that the professor's name is Professor Ash, as opposed to Professor Rowan, eh? Vitriol 19:02, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

English name unrevealed. Wait until the game's released in English. --The Raven's Apprentice (Talk|Contribs) 13:13, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Location

Where is this region located? Is it above Kanto and Johto? --Black Omnimon 21:18, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

How do you expect us to know?? We still haven't had any official confirmation as to where Hoenn's located, for Heaven's sake. Cheers, The Raven's Apprentice (Talk|Contribs) 06:42, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
Actually, we do. Its located southwest of Johto. I have an official map that i can show you if you need proof. - Plau 10:04, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
I would like to see that Plau, becuase I don't recall Nintendo ever saying where Hoenn was. TJ Spyke 03:51, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
Ok, then were is Hokkaido in relation to the Johto and Kanto regions in real Japan?--Black Omnimon 22:25, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
Just check this out, Omnimon. --The Raven's Apprentice (Talk|Contribs) 14:50, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
As I am not allowed to upload them onto Wikipedia, I've uploaded them onto ImageShack. Pokemon World Map - Plau 15:57, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

It must be higher than the others because of Snowpoint city. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.23.168.95 (talk) 00:45, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] English name

Serebii.net is reporting that the English name is Sinnoh. [2] Gran2 16:04, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Clean Up?

Well the page is getting some productive results indeed but it is far too small. I was thinking it might be a good idea to follow the trend of the other pages. Take a look at Hoenn's page to get a good idea of what I mean. We should have a list of cities, not the entire entry for them (like the Nagisa City one)! Otherwise it defeats the purpose of having the page on them. What do you think?—Preceding unsigned comment added by .:Alex:. (talkcontribs)

No, not really. That article is a target for a WP:PCP cleanup from its excessive use of lists. - Tetsuya-san (talk : contribs) 09:32, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Well at the very least can we get rid of that Nagisa City thing. It looks stupid and pointless there if you know what I mean.—Preceding unsigned comment added by .:Alex:. (talkcontribs)

[edit] Nagisa City Issue

Why does Nagisa City need to be on this article? It needs its own article like the others! 24.121.73.22 02:09, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

It had it's own article, but it was voted for deletion and got merged here. -Sukecchi 02:19, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
I consider it a bad faith merging, really, especially considering the other articles are no better. - Tetsuya-san (talk : contribs) 06:14, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
But why would people just delete that city? We need a Nagisa article back. And there is PLENTY of information on the city. I'm up to it now on my Diamond so I know pratically all of the city and everything about it. .:Alex:. 20:47, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
If you think it's necessary, create a split proposal. - Tetsuya-san (talk : contribs) 21:05, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
We should be merging all the cities, not splitting them! What can you ever say about a random Pokémon-world city apart from a lot of game guide info? --The Raven's Apprentice (Talk|Contribs) 14:14, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
Well, when it appears on the anime.. .:Alex:. 17:04, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Fancruft. --The Raven's Apprentice (Talk|Contribs) 05:37, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Well get something done!! A random city in the article looks stupid!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by .:Alex:. (talkcontribs)
Done. --Nehwyn 09:51, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Can someone please arrange the cities in the order the player visits them? --The Raven's Apprentice (Talk|Contribs) 15:11, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
There you go, all in order. I must say the whole thing looks MUCH better. Although there are some gaps in information.. but they are small things to be filled in later. —Preceding unsigned comment added by .:Alex:. (talkcontribs)
Personally, I feel that we should leave the cities here for now, at least until we find out their English names. When we know enough about them (probably after the US release, when more people will have the game), we can create separate articles similar to those for the cities in other regions. However, if anyone who has the Japanese version is willing to create articles to this standard using the current names, I would certainly not oppose this (after all, we can always change the names when we find them out) - at present, the lack of detailed information seems to be the main reason not to have standalone articles yet. Ygoloxelfer 14:23, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
"Standard"?! Excuse me, 99% of our cities articles are tagged for cleanup. The last thing we need is another bunch of gameguide articles. --The Raven's Apprentice (Talk|Contribs) 14:27, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
What I mean is, there is enough information in the city articles to warrant them being separate - a good example of this is Cherrygrove City, bearing in mind that it is one of the smallest and least significant of the cities - and there is too much information to simply condense them into their regional articles. Ygoloxelfer 14:50, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
The entire article screams "CRUFT". --The Raven's Apprentice (Talk|Contribs) 14:55, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Twinleaf Town should have its article, since it aready has offical english name. maybe the other will have their own when they got their english name... Ragnaroknike 14:52, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
It doesn't deserves it's own article. There isn't enough information to merit it....right now.-Sukecchi 15:12, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
If any articles like that get made, I drag them to AfD. As simple as that. --The Raven's Apprentice(Profile|PokéNav|Trainer Card) 16:40, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "Sinnoh"

I'm not arguing against this being the definitive English name... but can someone please offer proof BESIDES serebii.net, before changing every mention of "Shinou" into "Sinnoh"? -Power Slave 01:18, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Pokémon Ranger. Cheers, The Raven's Apprentice (Talk|Contribs) 13:48, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Do we even have a screenshot? I have a hard time believing that Sinnoh is the name; it's too far from the original name. The others (Kanto/カントウ, Johto/ジョウト, Hoenn/ホウエン, Orre/オーレ) are all decent approximations of the Japanese name, but Sinnoh [sɪ.noʊ] and シンオウ [ʃin.oː] are just too far apart to be believable. Typhlosion 23:35, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
In my opinion, looks like the translators got KUNREISHIKI'D. And still there's non-Japanese people who say that said system is not confusing. 201.239.183.252 23:40, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

There is another source. Two, actually. here, and here. Both from Nintendo. --Bevinsky 19:11, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New English names?

Alright, some new English names have been edited into this article. I've checked the official site, and apart from the already revealed Twinleaf, none of those names are up. Who found them, and where are the sources? Blue Mirage | Comment 08:01, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

I'll revert them as OR for now. - Tetsuya-san (talk : contribs) 08:19, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Serebii.net has the new names as well. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Phoenix1304 (talkcontribs) 08:31, 3 April 2007 (UTC).
Serebii fails WP:ATT. -Sukecchi 09:39, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Lake Verity has been confirmed on one of the IGN videos.
I have the game, and I have seen on the map the names of the lakes. Mr. Duckie 23:43, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
I dunno about the Lakes, but I'm trusting your word with the Gym cities since you provided a scan and whatnot.—Loveはドコ? 16:09, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] article confidence?

"Much like Hoenn before it, Sinnoh's routes are numbered so that they don't follow sequence directly from the previous region's routes. There are 30 routes in Sinnoh, numbered 201 - 230, with a total of 4 sea routes. On Route 203, it would seem that the main character fights their blonde rival. It seems that to progress beyond Route 219 the player needs to use Surf, much like it was for Route 19 in Kanto. Compared to the previous generation, there are fewer sea routes, though there are several islands; there are many land routes and mountains." First of all it doesn't 'Seem' that you need to surf, is there some kind of water/ground mixture of terrain? Is it mud? How does it seem to be a blonde rival? is it strawberry or dirty blonde? Lol. this article needs to soundmor like an article and less like a fuzzy guess. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by MichaelACookII (talkcontribs) 03:02, 13 March 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Ex-Tropical

Fukumaru's article suggests that Sinnoh was once tropical. Possibly near Hoenn? as the original Regi's are there, and Regigigas's Dex entry said it can pull a continent with a rope....68.185.192.83 16:45, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

While this is true that Regigigas can pull a continent, this statement I'm replying to is speculation. -Sukecchi 17:19, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Floaroma Town

Where is Floaroma Town on here? Doesn't it count as a city? 66.57.215.15 02:26, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Foento City

I'm curious. In the japanese version the final city was called "Foento City", while in the english language version it was simply named "Pokemon League". Was this a mistranslation, or was it indeed called "Foento City" and just not chosen to be the name of that place for whatever reason? .:Alex:. 07:28, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

It was never called Foento City, anywhere. I'm still wondering where that name came from.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 14:46, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sinnoh Underground

Hello,

I'd just like to bring the article, Sinnoh Underground, to your attention. Given that none of the other areas of Sinnoh have their own article, I believe it would be more appropriate to merge any viable encyclopaedic content to this article (or just outright delete it if there's nothing encyclopaedia not already here). —Laogeodritt [ Talk | Contribs ] 14:39, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:N06 0515 dpscr04.jpg

Image:N06 0515 dpscr04.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Notability?

Is notability the only issue here? Wasn't this article created for starters because the information couldn't fit in the Pokémon D/P article, and would be redundant in the Pokémon Anime article? Or IS notability the only issue and the sole reason of its existance is it because the individual towns aren't notable enough? On the other hand, wouldn't this region be too recent of an invention to be referenced anywhere outside the context of its game?--190.78.39.92 (talk) 01:02, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Mt. Coronet

I think it should be mentioned that Mt. Coronet may be connected to a planned military invasion that was supposed to be enacted in World War II. This operation was named Operation Coronet, which is why I think the two are related, due to the similar names. - J-Whitt (talk) 05:02, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
