Sindhudurg is 1 of the district in Maharashtra State,this was the first district in maharashtra to become 99% literate,this district the language spoken is "MALWANI" one of the dialet of ( Marathi Language )similiar to konkani bordering this district of maharashtra.

This district has following tehsil ( Devgad,Malvan,Vengurla,Kankavali,Vaibhavwadi,Kudal,sawantwadi & dodamarg )
