Singuttara Hill

Singuttara Hill is a small hill where the Shwedagon Pagoda was built and famous in its great history. King Ukkalapa and his conglomerates found the hill and predicted the most suitable place for enshrining of Buddha's hair. It was originally high and therefore divided into three levels, Lower terrace, Middle terrace and Top terrace. The Lower terrace is level to the street surrounded by, while the Middle terrace is regarded as no footware premise. The Top terrace is also prohibitted to female for presuming power of greatness.
