Single Father was written by Kid Rock and David Allan Coe in a joint writing session together (they also wrote Wreckless and 57 Chevy and 59 Cadillac together). Coe did Single Father on two live albums before Kid Rock asked if he could use it on his self titled release. The two revised the song and Kid Rock released it as the final single from "Kid Rock". With no music video to give it a push, it peaked at # 50 on the country charts.
