Singapore International School (SIS) is an elementary and secondary (only has a secondary one section) school situated on Nam Long Shan (Brick Hill), Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong SAR, China. It is an international school run by the Government of Singapore and follows the Singaporean currriculum. The school was first established in September 1991 in Kennedy Town with an enrolment of 200 students. The school now has about 1000 students from some 15 nationalities, with the majority being Singaporeans and Hongkongers.

In 1995, it moved to its current premises on Nam Long Shan near Aberdeen, occupying an area of 4,150 square metres. The land was granted by the Hong Kong Government while the cost of the building was borne by the Singapore Government.

[edit] Curriculum

SIS provides a bilingual education in English and Chinese (Mandarin). It follows the Singapore primary and secondary curriculum with English as the core subject. Other subjects include Moral education, dance and french. At the end of Primary 6, students going to Singapore to continue their education will take the Singapore Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE). Students staying in the school for Secondary school or going to another school in Hong Kong, would not have to take the PSLE. SIS also conducts a two-year preparatory programme for children aged 4 years - 6 years.

The school currently has 2 secondary one classes. in 2008/09 there will be a secondary 2 section. in 2009/10 there will be a secondary 3 section. in 2010/11 there will be a secondary 4 section. The Singaporean Government has also given the green light for a pre-university section.

[edit] Extra-curricular

They celebrated the 15th anniversary on 28 April 2006, with a completed original musical performance tittled "Reaching out, Touching Lives", in which every pupil in the school was part of and was performed at the Grand Theatre of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. The school was very proud of the smash hit.
