Sin 34

Sin 34 is a punk rock band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in Santa Monica, California in 1981 by teenage punk fans; singer Julie Lanfeld, drummer/filmmaker Dave Markey, and bassist Phil Newman went through a few guitarists (Mike Vallejo of Circle One, Chris Pederson star of "Suburbia", and Scott Silverman) before finding permanence in Mike "Geek" Glass in the fall of ’81. Named from a local LA television station (Spanish International Network, channel 34). The band released its first single, a five track EP titled “Die Laughing” on Newman’s independent label, Spinhead Records in 1982, and this lead to many a gig with the likes of the Circle Jerks, Dead Kennedys, The Misfits, Social Distortion, Redd Kross, The Minutemen, DOA, & Bad Religion. The band recorded for a series of compilations including “Charred Remains”, We Got Power’s “Party Or Go Home”, & Gary Kail’s “Life is Boring”. In 1983 the band recorded and released their one and only album “Do You Feel Safe” (Spinhead), and toured their home state and Arizona. In 1984 the band recorded a track for Markey’s independent film “Desperate Teenage Lovedolls”, and did a few shows before disbanding in the fall of that year. In 1995, the LA label Grand Theft Audio releases “Die Listening” CD, a collection of demos, live, and compilation tracks. Sin 34 reformed in November of 2007, playing live shows for the first time in 24 years in 2008.
