SINAI Special Needs Institute

SINAI Special Needs Institute is an organization based in New Jersey that serves the educational, psychological and emotional needs of Jewish children and young adults. Children of below to above average intelligence with different degrees of learning disability, with a wide variety of behavioral characteristics are served, whose needs could not be addressed by traditional Jewish day school programs and curricula. SINAI is staffed by those with extensive training and experience in the education of the learning disabled, including a curriculum advisor, trained classroom teachers, speech and language pathologist, occupational therapist, psychologist, social worker and therapist. SINAI's Dean is Laurette Rothwachs.[1]
SINAI dates back to 1982, originally created as a one-room program serving five disabled youths called the Learning Disabilities Program of Metropolitan New Jersey.[2]
SINAI includes elementary divisions housed within Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy in Livingston and Yavneh Academy in Paramus and high school divisions situated in Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School in Livingston and both Ma'ayanot High School for Girls and Torah Academy of Bergen County in Teaneck.[1][2]
