[edit] Userboxes
Okay if you want a page, click on the red link that is your username, or from this page, click user page. Type whatever you want and click save page, then you have a userpage. If you want to have the userboxes like on my page, you need to create a page called User:Simpsons fan 66/UserBoxes, then copy all of the coding from User:Gran2/Userboxes and keep all the userboxes you want, you can find more here: WP:UBX. Once you have created your userbox page, if you want the scroll thing...
{| style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; margin-bottom: 0.5em; width: 270px; border: #99B3FF solid 1px; clear: right" {{Boxboxtop}} {{User:Simpsons fan 66/Userboxes}} {{Boxboxbottom}}
Put that on your userpage. Gran2 08:30, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry didn't see your message until just a minute ago. Glad your excited! If your doing a character page Homer and Troy McClure's pages are good guides. And for episodes, Homer's Phobia, You Only Move Twice and Homer at the Bat are probably the best examples. Gran2 22:03, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Reply
The format for citing DVD commentaries used in GA and FAs is:
<ref>{{cite video | people=Jean, Al|year=2004|title=The Simpsons season 5 DVD commentary for the episode "Cape Feare"| medium=DVD||publisher=20th Century Fox}}</ref>
and just change things where necessary. I hope that helps. -- Scorpion0422 00:59, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- I think multiple people are cited on the Troy McClure page, so take a look at that. If you are interested in getting any pages to GA status, you'll need the DVDs and you should follow the examples set by Cape Feare, Homer's Phobia, Homer's Enemy or You Only Move Twice, all of which are FAs. Or, Itchy & Scratchy & Marge which is only a GA, but I always use it as a model when I'm working on new pages. -- Scorpion0422 01:25, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- Most of the production info comes from the DVD commentaries, but you might get lucky and find an online article that has some useable stuff. As for reception section, I usually let Gran2 do that (He's better at finding sources than me), but we use the bbc website, and the various IGN and EW lists where they are applicable. -- Scorpion0422 04:59, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- Basically, we don't bother with the post-commentary episodes because it would be near impossible to assemble a production section that is GA worthy. The Simpsons isn't the kind of show that gets a tonne of coverage from reliable sources and hence commentaries are a must. You can still improve season 11+ episode pages, they just likely wouldn't reach GA status... yet. -- Scorpion0422 05:07, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- by post-commentary, I basically just mean the episodes in the seasons that have not yet been released on DVD. So episodes from seasons 11-19. -- Scorpion0422 14:30, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- Unfortunately TV.com isn't useable. Usually, you can get away with a small one-line Reception section. One of the few websites we can use is the bbc website. Take a look at Itchy & Scratchy & Marge for an example of a small reception section and Last Exit to Springfield for a large one. There are 2 THOH GAs: Treehouse of Horror V and Treehouse of Horror VII, there is a source from IGN.com that names the best THOH segments, which is useable. -- Scorpion0422 01:31, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks
Thanks for the award, much appreciated! Gran2 06:27, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- A Streetcar Named Marge was Scorp, with a good bit of work on it, done by Zagalejo. As for GA/FA noms, its best to get articles to GA first, then FA at some point after that. GA noms are done here and FA noms are done here. GA is a process where you nominate an article, and at some point after you have nominated it, any user can come along and review it. Either passing it, failing it or putting it on hold. FA is a process where you nominate a page, and then many people read it, and either support or oppose it being an FA. And anyone can nominate an article for either thing. Gran2 14:27, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

If you want refs to group together, you have to name them. ie. <ref name="blahblahblah">citation stuff here</ref> and then the next time you use that ref, you can just add: <ref name="blahblahblah"/>. Note the back slash at the end of the second ref. Hope that helps. -- Scorpion0422 12:46, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- BBC and the commentaries are the best sources, but perhaps there's some mention in one of the other books. If there is no source, then it should be removed. -- Scorpion0422 23:51, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Don't worry too much about the reception and cultural refs sections. It's a well-written production section that is key, so perhaps you should give the commentary another listen. I'll try and find some online sources. It was sent to critics before it aired, so I might be able to find some stuff. -- Scorpion0422 00:16, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Kamp Krusty
Looking better for sure, lose the bullet points though.
On another topic, you can only link copyrighted images you've uploaded on your user page, but not show them in a decorative gallery. Alientraveller 09:05, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Is this right?
"After the premiere of the episode, James L. Brooks called the writers and suggested that the "Kamp Krusty" script should be used for a The Simpsons film. However, the episode ran very short, and to make it barely fit the maximum time the Kamp Krusty Song had to be lengthened by a number of verses. As Jean told Brooks, "If we can't make 18 minutes out of this episode how are we supposed to make 80?" This was also the last episode to be animated at Klasky Csupo."
I think there may be an error in that paragraph, because why would Brooks want to make the episode into a movie AFTER it aired? -- Scorpion0422 16:36, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, I read your message and then completely forgot about it. As for the reception section, well I'd search for some reviews, usually reviews of the Season 4 DVD should give a few comments about the episode. [2] [3] [4] for an example. Also, I would definitly remove the bulletpoints from the cultural references section. Gran2 09:42, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hit 'N' Run
Glad to see someone trying to do one of the game pages, can't wait to see what you've done. As for the plot: mission titles and the subsections for each are pointless and trivial. Just a basic summary of the plot of the game, without any subsections is fine. Gran2 14:18, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- Nope, sorry, I only have the PS2 game as well. Gran2 06:05, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
- Sandbox - simply start a page called User:Simpsons fan 66/Sandbox and for the signature, the code needed is - [[User:Simpsons fan 66|Simpsons fan]][[User talk:Simpsons fan 66|66]] Gran2 07:25, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
I think the page looks good, but it has too much in-universe information. If you simply wanted to make it look better, it's okay, but if you intend to try to get it promoted, you'll need more real world information and a lot more sources. There are many different video game FAs out there, and I suggest taking a look at some of them and then you'll get a better idea of what you can do. One is The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, and you can find a list of other video game FAs here. I hope that helps. -- Scorpion0422 00:00, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- If you want to, then go for it, but no pressure. It would be difficult to find sources for it. I will say that your version is a tad heavy on the in-universe stuff. If you just want to clean it up, cut down the in-universe by 25% or so, and add in a few more sources and it would be fine. -- Scorpion0422 00:10, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] In case your interested
The drive to get season 9 to FT status that has been kicking around for a while has suddenly gained some momentum and if you'd be willing to help out, it would be much appreciated. You can find out more here. -- Scorpion0422 01:43, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure why season 9, but two users chose it and they are pretty enthusiastic about season 9, so I'm not going to fight it. Sure, it will take a lot of work, but we had less done on season 8 and Gran and I got it done in two months. It would be great if you would be willing to help out. -- Scorpion0422 01:54, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- Season 9 wouldn't be my first choice, but if it gets people enthusiastic about the Project, then I'm not complaining. The commentaries aren't a MUST, they are just helpful. If you want to help find online sources, use books or copyedit plot sections, that would be EXTREMELY helpful. And I'll take a look at Mr. Plow. -- Scorpion0422 02:02, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- That's what happens when you live in oppositeland. Anyway, what are you going to work on next? My jedi powers tell me that next in line will be... Homer the Heretic. -- Scorpion0422 03:32, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- "Only a master of EVIL Darth! And, I say The Phantom Menace sucked more!" Anyway, my next "random character of the month" project is... Ned diddly Flan-derino. If you would like to help, I would REALLY appreciate it, because it would involve listening to a LOT of commentaries (at least a dozen), although digging up sources for a reception and cultural influence section shouldn't be TOO hard... -- Scorpion0422 04:03, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- Pretty much any one for an episode in which he is prominent, or an episode that contains a small but iconic Flanders moment. Although the more I think of it, the more I think that it would be better if one person (me) did all of the listening because then that one person would be able to judge better on what is/isn't relevant, whereas with two opinions in there, some vital stuff could be missed. If you do want to help, you could help on the online front (ie. find interviews, stuff for a reception and cultural influence section) and help with a Role in The Simpsons section. -- Scorpion0422 04:09, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

The continuity section? I'd axe it for sure, its pretty much uncitedable, and to be fair isn't very interesting. But overall that page seems to be coming on. Gran2 15:57, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes, Halloween is long over, and yes we do "celebrate" it in Canada. It's kind of fun, but really nothing special, although I guess I would have answered differently 10 years ago. -- Scorpion0422 15:35, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Incidentally, thanks for the wording change to "hazards" on plasma lamp, it's indeed fitting and would hardly have occured to us non-native-English - speakers. I actually gave up... I have no idea how to fix the TV from messing up. Do you think you could find someone who does advertisements for other WikiProjects, like the Video Game WikiProject's ad., and ask them to fix it? xihix(talk) 22:26, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello Gurch. I understand you created the advertisment (Qxz-ad31.gif) for Wikiproject video games. I am from Wikiproject Simpsons, and we are trying to create a similar ad. We have the text and font worked out, but when the text goes through a transition, the image fades in and out. How can we resolve this problem. Here is the current version of our ad Image:Wpdohad5.gif --Simpsons fan 66 23:03, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] A potential chat session with Bill Oakley
We at the Simpsons WikiProject have managed to get into contact with the one and only Bill Oakley (who showran The Simpsons from season 7 to 8) and he has agreed to send us some images and to do an IRC chat in the future with us so that we can ask questions about things that we can use in articles. The transcript of this chat will hopefully be posted at NoHomers.net, which I think will be a good enough sorce. Failing that, we'll try The Simpsons Archive. Every member is more than welcome to take part, which will be held at our #wpsimpsons channel. Because not everyone will be able to make the chat, a page has been made where any member can post questions that can be asked. Remember, no fan questions, and due to a lack of time, try to limit it to ones that will help improve an article. That page is here. If you have any questions, ask myself, Xihix (who is the one in contact with him) or post it at WT:DOH. -- Scorpion0422 02:51, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- It was more luck than anything. As for IRC, go here and go to the channel #wpsimpsons. Give it a try now because there are a couple of us on. -- Scorpion0422 03:08, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

I contacted Bill Oakley myself because Xihix has been MIA for over a week and he responded. He didn't say anything about images, but I think he would rather answer questions via e-mail rather than during an IRC chat. [edit] Re:TAGAP
You don't have to change to the template - if you want to keep it, keep it - but a lot of Wikipedians like the standardisation of collapsible tracklists across multiple articles. The template shouldn't be creating any white spaces though, it should only do that if an {{-}} is put at the end. -- Sabre (talk) 13:02, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
