An editor has nominated List of recent automobile models by type, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of recent automobile models by type and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 13:14, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Bring in defunct

Your edits constitute a big help. Thanx. For my own use (not because I question them), what was your source? Trekphiler (talk) 15:12, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

"$200-$700" Ouch. Thanks for the tip, tho; I can interlibrary loan it. (Fortunately, I've also got a flatbed scanner...& it'd be just for my use.) Clymer's got an amazing amount of info for a skinny little coffe table book. BTW, have you looked at your local newspaper's back issues? If the ads in it are anything like the ones Clymer reproduced, it should be possible to get stub pages off the info in the ads. (I did it from Clymer.) Keep up the good work. Maybe some year, all those red links'll get filled in... Ciao. Trekphiler (talk) 18:31, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
I've been looking at your date adds. If you've still got Kimes & Clark handy, can you check & change some things? I'm wondering if these are the correct names, & if they are, change the main link so, when (if) the page is created, it won't need to be moved: Kalamazoo (or Michigan?), Kane-Pennington (or just Pennington?), Keene Steamobile (or just Keene?), Kinnar or Kinnear?, Kirk (builder of the Yale model? or Yale a separate company?), Konigslow (builder of the Ottokar? or Ottokar a separate company?), L.P.C. (builder of the Lewis? or Lewis a separate company?), Maxim-Goodridge Electric (builder of the Lenox?), Puritan Steam (builder of the Locke?). To be clear, my thinking is, if they're builders of identified models, move the model to the fn & change the main WL to the builder, so (say) change Lenox to Maxim-Goodridge. If the history's a bit convoluted (& I don't doubt some are...), I'd try & link all the related companies to a "master page", the oldest company. And go right back to "A" (I just thought of this at "K"...). Thanx. (I'm waiting on interlibrary loan, or I'd start myself...) Oh, BTW, if you've dabbed out companies with dates, where they're footnoted "one of two", go ahead & del the fn; it's not needed, if it's clear there are 2 (or 3, or 5) different ones. (I put in "one of" because Clymer didn't date them.) Trekphiler (talk) 13:32, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Looking at your date adds again. It's got to be tedious, so a few words of encouragement. It's looking good. At this rate, you'll be done before the blasted interlibrary loan comes thru. Hope moral support's enough. Trekphiler (talk) 02:13, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Two questionable deletes
Zabardust
Decauville (before 1926)[1]
Given Clymer makes a few mistakes, could be Decauville was French; could also have been a French branch plant, no? And Zabardust has been in the page a long time, but it makes me think it could be a branch of an Italian/Swiss (can't recall which). If you've got better info, leave 'em out & let me know not to put 'em back? Trekphiler (talk) 03:24, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
My copy of Kimes & Clark just came in (Yay!) & no Decauville. Ignore my last; I should have bothered to look it up in my own sources, first, even before K&C got here. (No mention of a U.S. branch...) Open mouth. Insert foot. Trekphiler (talk) 23:06, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

<--I should've kept quiet about deletes, you're doing a great job. I've got my own source for Decauville, & it says nothing about a U.S. branch plant, which is what I was thinking it was, per the Mercedes & Napier plants (which I didn't recall ever hearing of before). The Zabardust I suspected much the same, a brand I'm unfamiliar with; seeing it's in neither Clymer (who did pretty good) nor Kimes, take it out. As for trucks, I'd happily see them broken out. Have you posted the question to the Automobile project talk page? You might get help with it. Chances are, you'll get a few gripes over lack of notability of such a list; if you've got more than one source, it'd help. (Have you seen Great Trucks? It's just a coffee table book, but it mentions quite a few rare brands, and if all you need is a mention...) I'd also suggest linking out of a truck list to as many existing articles as you can, & back-linking to the truck list from as many places as you reasonably can, before you put up the obscure stuff. Also, have a glance at my defense here; not to brag, but it pre-empted an AfD challenge, which is the idea. If it comes to a vote, you've got mine. Keep on...truckin'? TrekphilerFlag of Canada (talk) 23:09, 18 April 2008 (UTC) (P.S. I should've asked, what's the title & author of the new book? I can just see myself starting a list of Canadian car & truck companies! 23:47, 18 April 2008 (UTC))

If you're taking out the trucks, let me set up a separate subpage you can dump 'em into; I'll try a list, & I'd hate for the info to get lost entirely. I'm not that busy I can't organize & prowl for it a bit. Trekphiler (talk) 01:32 & 01:34, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
If you're taking out the trucks, you can also move them here; I started it with you in mind, & I'm watching the page. Trekphiler (talk) 20:36, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
