[edit] Hi from Alphax

Hi Simfish,

That would be me, but I'm actually more from AoWH than Town's Crier. I don't have Autism or Aspergers, but my brain has some interesting abnormal functions that were (a long time ago) briefly labelled (probably incorrectly) as ADD.

Good to see you contributing to the greatest repository of human knowledge ever written - Alphax 07:22, Oct 1, 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply, Alphax! I see now. THough I sometimes cannot resist returning to AoKH. ;)

[edit] Uh...hi/welcome

_johnlee from OD here. Talk pages generally aren't used for blogs — they're a handy method of private messaging in the Wiki style. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! BTW, you can sign your name using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Here are some things you can do to get started:

Here are some tasks you can do:

Again, welcome. Johnleemk | Talk 08:52, 21 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for the message johnlee! Just to let you know; I was actually trying to find a free blog host where users could reply to my comments. I found none, save for Xanga which frankly gives little privacy from classmates (I don't want classmates to see my blog!). And Wikipedia is perfect. I'm ascetic so fancy backgrounds don't matter to me.Simfish 01:43, 27 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Ah; screw the blog. I just viewed your contributions and seen the "ready to delete" contribution for a user who abused Wikispace. And I shouldn't be abusing it. ;) I really shouldn't. I apologize.01:47, 27 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Don't worry. We're generally tolerant of such things, provided you make decent contributions to Wikipedia, whether in helping to run it or just edit articles. What pisses most people off is when users who don't help out at all come and make Wikipedia their own little homepage. Otherwise, a blog here would generally be tolerated. Johnleemk | Talk 18:04, 27 Aug 2004 (UTC)

I see.

[edit] Some stylistic points

Hi!

I just want to comment on some matters of style..

First, Wikipedia uses Capitalization Sparingly. Article titles should only be capitalized if it consists of proper nouns. The same goes for section headings.

Secondly, always start section headings at ==Two levels==. Do not ==Use a colon:== at the end of headings.

Oh, and one more thing, please use the Preview button to view intermediate editing steps.

Thanks, — David Remahl 22:58, 2 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for the info, I am now putting them into account when creating any new articles. Simfish 00:59, 4 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Guatemala

Are you the person who trashed Guatemala [1] this morning? ie 152.157.79.253, who has certainly been contributing to your user page, and appears, according to my IP locator, to be from a school in Everett, Washington. --SqueakBox 18:44, Mar 23, 2005 (UTC)

No, I edit my page from my school without logging in. Simfish 02:04, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

So these Special:Contributions 152.157.79.253 are not yours then? Do they belong to someone else? Or are possibly some of them yours, and some belong to someone else? I appreciate school computers are shared. Anyway, given that this IP number is being used for vandalism I strongly advise you to sign in when you use that IP address. --SqueakBox 02:08, Mar 24, 2005 (UTC)

No, I only edited my own user page from that IP address. Alright - I'll try to log in when editing my page from school in the future. Simfish 03:10, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Cheers, --SqueakBox 03:57, Mar 24, 2005 (UTC)

I don't know if you noticed, but you put that hi on his userpage. Make sure you put communications on talk pages in the future. Some people don't like it. Happy editing! Mgm|(talk) 01:07, Jun 1, 2005 (UTC)

He said on his userpage that it was fine - and he wanted someone to put something there. So I made that comment. Simfish 01:10, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Yo

Hey, simfish; are you an RSI05ers? In that case, drop me a line - I'm Jason Chu, RSI03, and an RSI'05 first-week TA.
Even if you're not, that's cool, too; good job on starting the RSI entry. I appreciate it. 216.158.31.195 19:56, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

No, I'm still too young for RSI. I was considering applying next year if I did not get accepted to an early entrance program. Simfish 23:27, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Even if you get accepted to an early entrance program, you can still get into RSI. One of my fellow RSI03ers attended MIT in the class of 2007. jglc | t | c 16:24, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Oh, the problem is... that I'm going to university next year (I was planning on applying to RSI that year) through the early entrance program, thereby disqualifying me from RSI. The person you're speaking about went to RSI the summer before college, I would believe. Simfish 02:03, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Greetings

I couldn't help but notice your Random Notes for Self noone should look at. My recommendation is to create a sub user page like User:Simfish/Random notes and put your stuff there.

By the way, if that was you, adding the link, sorry, I reverted it. You should log in when editing your user page! Especially if you're on a school computer. ;-) Ambush Commander 21:30, Jun 14, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestion - done. Sometimes I'm so excited to post something I forget to log on but that really isn't a great idea all of the time. Simfish 02:19, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] re:Category:Wikipedians by D&D Alignment

I noticed you are categorized as a Wikipedian by alignment. If you are in to userboxes, there are now infoboxes available using a standard template. See the alignment category page for details. This is a copied announcement, please reply on My Talk Page or in the category talk if you have any questions. xaosflux Talk/CVU 18:52, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Hgmain logo-l.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Hgmain logo-l.gif. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Bestiege23 18:37, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
